A man and woman found themselves at the center of an internet firestorm this week after they were spotted during a Coldplay concert and then the band’s lead singer joked they might be having an “affair” given their response to the attention.
The incident occurred at the band’s concert at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Mass., where they performed on both Tuesday, July 15, and Wednesday, July 16.
In one viral clip shared to TikTok, a camera pans over to where the man and woman can be seen wrapped in each other’s arms.
The woman quickly turns her back to the camera to hide her face, while the man ducks out of sight.
“Oh, look at these two,” Coldplay’s Chris Martin says to the crowd as the couple hides. “All right, c’mon, you’re okay.”
Martin then adds, apparently befuddled, “Oh, what? Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.”

Some people in the audience around the pair are seen going wild in the clip; and the internet soon seized on the bizarre — and widely seen — moment, wondering what was really going on.
A flood of scrutiny followed, as various online accounts purported to identify the couple and share details of their personal lives.
PEOPLE has not been able to reach the man and woman for comment, and they have not publicly acknowledged what happened.
