Aja Naomi King is doling out some inspiring words for her former How to Get Away with Murder castmate Viola Davis.
While discussing her new NBC show Grosse Pointe Garden Society in an exclusive PEOPLE in 10 interview, King also reflected on Davis’ career nearly five years after the How to Get Away with Murder series finale aired.
Looking straight into the camera, the 40-year-old actress shared a message for Davis, who earned EGOT status in 2023 after winning an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony throughout her acclaimed career.
“Viola, you are incredible … and inspire all of us. No one does it like you do it. You are one of a kind,” King says. “You are phenomenal. And we’re just so grateful that we get to witness your greatness.”
King and Davis starred together in six seasons of How to Get Away with Murder from 2014 to 2020, with Davis earning the 2015 Emmy for outstanding lead actress for her role as attorney and law professor Annalise Keating. In the ABC legal thriller, King played Michaela Pratt, one of Keating’s trusted law students who are embroiled in a murder plot.
Since then, King was nominated for an Emmy in 2024 for outstanding supporting actress in a limited series or anthology series or movie for her role as Harriet Sloane in Apple TV+’s Lessons in Chemistry.
Now, in 2025, King stars in NBC’s Grosse Pointe Garden Society as Catherine, “one of four members of a suburban garden club who find their lives intertwined by scandal, mischief and a shared secret — a murder no one wants to talk about,” according to the show’s synopsis.
