Aja Naomi King keeps all the necessities and more in her “black hole” of a purse.
The Grosse Pointe Garden Society actress exclusively opened up to Us Weekly about everything she keeps inside of her black Telfar tote bag, which she swears by. “It’s amazing. It carries everything,” she gushed of the design, which is by Black owned. “That’s really important to me,” King told Us. “And I carry a lot of stuff around, so I need a sizable bag that also looks nice.”
Inside, she keeps all of her L’Oréal Paris makeup, along with toy cars for her son, Kian, whom she welcomed in June 2021 with husband Dan King.
The biggest mess in her bag was a “devastating” one to King, who accidentally spilled breast milk. “I cried so hard because that was so much labor to get that and it’s everywhere,” she told Us. “And that was painful because also the hormones make it feel that much more extreme. This is his food.”

Wallet
“My wallet is currently my phone case,” King told Us. “It’s the Bandolier [crossbody] style and it has a little strap because I want to be as hands free as possible.”
Inside of her wallet, King holds old hotel key cards, as well as Polaroids, especially because her son and castmates like getting their picture taken.
Technology
King doesn’t go anywhere without her AirPods and iPad, which her husband adorably decorated with an “I love you” message from a label maker.
Makeup
King, who is a partner with L’Oréal Paris, is a huge fan of their Plump Ambition Hyaluron Lip Oil. “This one is crystal clear, but there’s another color I really like: the Wine O’clock,” she told Us. “It’ll give your lips kind of a little warm tingly feeling,” she added, noting that she also loves the Lumi Le Glass Highlighter Stick, the Paradise Big Deal Mascara and the Infallible Fresh Wear Foundation in a powder.
When King is traveling, she brings the L’Oréal Paris Pure Hyaluronic Acid Serum with her “because planes just suck all the moisture out of your skin.”
“I love replenishing it with that,” she told Us, noting she also brings the Slip Sleep Mask with her, as well as the Bright Reveal Broad Spectrum sunscreen.
Deodorant and Perfume
The How to Get Away With Murder star throws her Le Labo perfume and deodorant in her bag before leaving the house.
Mom Necessities
King is always prepared for Kian with toy cars. She also keeps tissues, hand sanitizer, floss and the Eo Hand Cream in Orange Blossom Vanilla — which people are always asking to borrow — in her purse for emergencies.
Work Essentials
As she’s reading over scripts on her iPad, King takes notes with highlighters and sticky notes. “That makes me feel organized,” she said.

Book
While she’s not carrying a hardcover book with her, King is reading Elizabeth Gilbert‘s Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear. “I always go back to that book,” she gushed. She’s also reading Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi.
Snacks
One of King’s favorite snacks to keep stocked in her bag is the Go Energy Bars and Laird Bars, as well as the David Protein Bar, which she loves in the Blueberry Pie flavor.
Hair Accessories
“When my hair was longer, I used to always carry hair ties, but now that I’m bobbing, I don’t,” King told Us of her chic hairdo. “Sometimes I’ll have a headband for the sauna to pull my hair off my face. But that’s it.”
