Alec Baldwin and Hilaria Baldwin are having a little fun in response to critics who think that their relationship is all a puppet show.
On Sunday, June 1, the couple shared a video on Hilaria’s Instagram that featured themselves recreating a critical meme drawn by a social media user that portrayed Hilaria, 41, as a puppet master controlling Alec, 67, with strings.
In the video — which was set to the song “When You Wish Upon a Star” from the original 1940 Disney film Pinocchio — Hilaria wears a green dress that looks similar to the one in the meme as she stands on a chair holding some spoons meant to look like marionette controls. Alec sits below the controls and holds his arms up in the air, acting as if he’s being controlled by the strings.
“Well, you guys gave me the idea. I just HAD to try it out 🥰,” Hilaria captioned the skit.
The Baldwins have never been afraid to speak out against their critics. In one of the first episodes of their TLC reality series The Baldwins, Hilaria addressed the 2020 controversy over her accent after people began to question the authenticity of her Spanish origins.
“I love English, I also love Spanish, and when I mix the two it doesn’t make me inauthentic, and when I mix the two, that makes me normal,” she said in a confessional at the time. “I’d be lying if I said [the controversy] didn’t make me sad and it didn’t hurt and it didn’t put me in dark places.”
“But it was my family, my friends, my community who speak multiple languages, who have belonged in multiple places and realize that we are a mix of all these different things and that’s going to have an impact on how we sound and an impact on how we articulate things and the words that we choose and our mannerisms,” she continued. “That’s normal. That’s called being human.”

The pair most recently made a public appearance together on Wednesday, May 28, when they attended American Ballet Theatre’s 2025 Spring Gala in New York City, honoring the ballet company’s 85th anniversary.
Alec wore a dark suit for the occasion, while Hilaria sported a strapless fit-and-flare dress with a black-and-white striped bodice and a white skirt. She completed her look with black pumps and wore her hair down.
The couple has quite a large family, and The Baldwins focuses on how they parent their many kids.
Alec and Hilaria, who tied the knot in 2012, have welcomed seven children together: daughters Ilaria Catalina Irena, 2; María Lucía Victoria, 4; and Carmen Gabriela, 11, as well as sons Eduardo “Edu” Pao Lucas, 4; Romeo Alejandro David, 7; Leonardo Ángel Charles, 8; and Rafael Thomas, 9. Alec is also a dad to daughter Ireland Baldwin, 29, whom he shares with ex-wife Kim Basinger.

Last month, Alec opened up about being an “older dad” to his seven younger kids on an episode of the TLC show.
“And for me, as I’m getting older and older, and I don’t want to be tougher. I don’t want to be anything. I just want to be a father to my kids,” he explained. “I want to just watch and see what the years I have left for us to experience and not have it be about me.”
