Alec Baldwin and Hilaria Baldwin Share Why They Decided to Star in Their Own Reality Show

Another famous family is coming to reality TV.

According to Hilaria Baldwin, “Telling your story is one thing, and showing your story is something else,” she told People in a Tuesday, February 11, cover story about her and husband Alec Baldwin‘s upcoming series, The Baldwins. “It felt authentic, it felt human. It felt very empowering.”

For Alec, 66, filming a reality show meant getting to work without missing anything at home.

“We did the show because it’s in place of doing a movie or a play. Now I think to myself, ‘Am I going to be away from my kids five nights out of the week until 11 o’clock at night?’” he told People. “For me, work-related things really aren’t that critical anymore. I thought, ‘I get to spend time with my family.’”

Alec and Hilaria, 41, are parents of 7 children, Carmen, 11, Rafael, 9, Leonardo, 8, Romeo, 6, Eduardo and Marilu, 4, and Ilaria, 2. Alec also has a daughter from a previous marriage, Ireland Baldwin, 29.

Their TLC show will showcase their life as a household of nine and the highs and lows that come along with it.

Hilaria even revealed she offered to sign a prenup before marrying Alec in 2012. “I said I would [sign a prenup],” Hilaria admitted. “And then you’re like, ‘OK, we don’t have to.’”

The couple also addressed the on-set shooting Alec was at the center of in 2021 while filming the movie, Rust.

Alec was holding a prop gun he said was unknowingly loaded with live ammunition. Despite claiming he never pulled the trigger of the prop gun, the gun discharged, killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injuring director Joel Souza.

He faced up to 18 months in prison for his role in the shooting, but the judge presiding over the trial dismissed the case.

Alec Baldwin and his wife, Hilaria Baldwin, didn’t decide to star in a reality show on a whim — and they’re ready to become open books for viewers. “Hilaria has been asked for years if she’d consider a reality show, which gave them this idea,” a source exclusively reveals in the latest issue of Us […]

“It was an opportunity for us to actually speak. It was a really safe space,” Hilaria said of filming during that time. “And I think it was also very cathartic, almost like a diary, during a very unsure time of our life. That felt both terrifying and like it could get us through day by day.”

“I don’t know where I would be if I didn’t have her,” Alec said of his wife. “I don’t know what would’ve happened to me.”
