Being a dad is Eddie Murphy’s single greatest accomplishment.
Eddie’s fatherhood journey began in 1989 with the birth of his first child, son Eric Murphy, with his then-girlfriend Paulette McNeely. Over the years, the comedian has welcomed nine more children from four relationships, including two kids with his wife, Paige Butcher, whom he wed in July 2024.
“I am so blessed with my kids,” he said on Marc Maron’s WTF podcast in March 2021. “I don’t have one bad seed. I don’t have any like, ‘Oh, you are the one.’ I don’t have any of that. My kids are so great, normal people — and nobody is like the Hollywood jerk kid.”
In his Netflix documentary, Being Eddie, which premiered on Nov. 12, the Daddy Day Care star opens up about his remarkable life and the people who matter most. “It’s all about my children,” he said in the trailer.

Eric Murphy
Eric is Eddie’s oldest child, whom he welcomed with McNeely on July 10, 1989.
Throughout the years, Eric kept himself out of the spotlight until he started dating Martin Lawrence’s daughter, Jasmin. The couple made their relationship public in June 2021 and eventually got engaged in November 2024.
Jasmin and Eric announced the happy news on Instagram, writing, “We’re engaged!! God truly blessed us with a love that feels like destiny. We couldn’t be more excited for this next chapter.”
In May 2025, Eric and Jasmin quietly wed during an intimate church ceremony.
“They just had the two of them and the preacher. They had a quiet little thing,” Eddie shared during an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show that same month.
Bria Murphy
Bria Murphy is Eddie’s second child and first daughter, born on Nov. 18, 1989. He welcomed her with his then-wife, Nicole Mitchell, to whom he was married from 1993 until 2006.
Bria has several TV and movie credits, including 2014’s Hollywood Exes — which she appeared in alongside her mom — 2016’s The Perfect Match and 2017’s drama Conflict of Interest. She’s also shared the screen with her father in 2003’s hit Daddy Daycare.
Bria wed actor Michael Xavier on July 9, 2022. The happy couple married before 250 close friends and family.
In June 2024, Bria and her sisters Shayne Audra and Bella supported their dad at the Los Angeles premiere of Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F. They posed for photos on the red carpet alongside Eddie and Butcher.
Christian Murphy
Christian Murphy is Eddie’s third child, born on Nov. 29, 1990. Eddie welcomed Christian with his former girlfriend, Tamara Hood.
Like his siblings, Christian has dabbled in acting — one role being in 2011’s Cougar’s Inc. alongside Jim Belushi and Sarah Hyland.
Outside of work, Christian has kept a low profile and posts little on Instagram. When he does share on social media, it’s usually pictures and videos of family and friends.
Myles Mitchell Murphy
Myles Murphy is Eddie’s fourth child, born on Nov. 7, 1992. The actor welcomed Myles with his then-wife, Mitchell.
Myles keeps a lower profile compared to many of his siblings. However, he did step out with his family at various events when he was young, including the Daddy Day Care premiere in 2003 and the Shrek 2 premiere in 2004.
In 2019, Myles became a father to daughter Evie Isla Murphy with Carly Fink — making Eddie a grandpa for the first time.
Myles and Fink got married on Sept. 9, 2023, during a private ceremony in Beverly Hills, Calif. In October 2024, they welcomed their second daughter, Zuri Liv Murphy.
Shayne Audra Murphy
Shayne is Eddie’s fifth child, born on Oct. 10, 1994. He welcomed her with his then-wife Mitchell.
In comparison to her siblings, Shayne is very active on Instagram and posts a mixture of photos ranging from vacation pics to snaps of her dog. She also runs a food-dedicated account where she shares recipes and cooking videos.
She also has a few TV credits, having appeared on Hollywood Exes with her sister Bria and mother in 2014 and Claim to Fame season 2 in 2023.
Following her elimination on Claim to Fame, Shayne spoke with PEOPLE about her famous dad, saying he was very supportive of her decision to do the show.
“He’s very trusting of my judgment,” she said, adding that the Murphy family actually watched Claim to Fame together. “He’s been watching the show. We were just in Hawaii together and when we got in, my whole family watched it together. It was really cute. He’s really invested.”
Though Eddie has achieved many successes in his career, Shayne noted “his favorite thing is to just be around his kids.”
“He’s just a legend,” she continued. “The biggest thing he’s shown me is that you can really accomplish whatever you want as long as you are willing to work hard enough for it. So he is a big supporter of dreams and just very inspiring and motivating in that way.”
Zola Ivy Murphy
Zola Ivy Murphy is Eddie’s sixth child, born on Dec. 24, 1999. He welcomed her with his then-wife Mitchell.
Like her sister Shayne, Zola shares a decent amount of her personal life on her Instagram, with her posts mainly consisting of selfies and shots showcasing her fashionable style.
Along with her sisters and mother, Zola also appeared on the VH1 reality show, Hollywood Exes, in 2014.
Zola is currently dating actor and model Tim Vagapov.
Bella Zahra Murphy
Bella is Eddie’s seventh child, born on Jan. 29, 2002. The actor welcomed her with his then-wife Mitchell.
Like her father, Bella has made a name for herself in film and TV. In addition to appearing on Hollywood Exes, some of her projects include Hulu’s comedy series Dollface and 2021’s Coming 2 America, in which she shares the screen with her father.
In February 2021, Bella and Eddie graced the cover of Essence together.
Angel Iris Murphy Brown
Angel Iris Murphy Brown is Eddie’s eighth child and was born on April 3, 2007. He shares Angel with Melanie Brown, better known as Mel B from the Spice Girls.
Despite a child support battle between Eddie and Mel B when Angel was a baby, the former couple appears to be on better terms now.
In August 2018, an insider told PEOPLE that Eddie is “an amazing father,” and that Angel had accompanied him on a vacation to Hawaii with the rest of the family.
“They all have a very good relationship,” the insider revealed. “He always makes sure to get them involved with Angel.”
The insider added of the former couple, “Mel and Eddie always talk through Eddie’s mom, but there’s no issues — that’s just how they co-parent. But he really is a hands-on parent with his kids, especially Angel.”
Izzy Oona Murphy
Izzy Oona Murphy is Eddie’s ninth child and was born on May 3, 2016. He shares her with his wife, Butcher, whom he’s been with since 2012. The couple got engaged in September 2018 and tied the knot during a private Caribbean wedding in July 2024.
A source previously told PEOPLE, “[The couple] live a pretty low-key life. They are all about family. Paige is very close with Eddie’s kids.”
The source added, “They are a very special and happy family. They vacation and spend holidays together. Paige loves being a mom and is very involved. She takes her daughter to the park and for play dates.”
Max Charles Murphy
Max Charles Murphy is Eddie’s 10th and youngest child, born on Nov. 30, 2018, with Butcher. She debuted her baby bump in August 2018, a month before Eddie asked her to marry him.
Prior to his birth, an insider told PEOPLE, “[The couple] wished for a younger sibling for their daughter.”
About a month after Max’s birth, Eddie’s daughter Bria introduced him to the world via an Instagram post on Christmas. The family photo featured the comedian looking happy while standing in the center of the group as Butcher cradled their 3-week-old son.
