Allison Holker Admits She and Daughter Weslie, 16, Have Dealt With ‘Hard Times’: ‘We’ve Beefed’

Allison Holker and her eldest daughter, Weslie, have navigated numerous ups and downs through the years.

“I really want people to see [on our podcast that] we have such a close bond, and I hope that they can see that it’s really genuine and authentic,” Holker, 37, said on the Sunday, April 12, debut episode of her and Weslie’s “Between Us” podcast. “But, it hasn’t been easy for us, always.”

She added, “There’s been a lot of rocks in our road that, like, we’ve beefed [and] we’ve also had fights. We’ve always worked through it and navigated it to the point where we have so much respect and understanding of each other that, I think, that’s why our relationship [is] as good as it is.”

Holker welcomed Weslie with a past partner, noting on Sunday that she gave birth when she was “really young.” The So You Think You Can Dance alum later married Stephen “tWitch” Boss in 2013, who became Weslie’s stepfather. Holker and Boss, who died by suicide in 2022, also shared son Maddox, 9, and daughter Zaia, 5.

Family fun! Ahead of his death, Stephen “tWitch” Boss loved giving glimpses into his life with wife Allison Holker and their three kids. The former Dancing With the Stars pro became a mom in 2008 when she welcomed her daughter Weslie with her ex-fiancé. She wed the Ellen DeGeneres Show DJ five years later, and Boss […]

Elsewhere on Sunday’s podcast episode, Holker broke down how she and Weslie have managed to overcome their apparent “hard times.”

“It’s taken a lot of time and effort,” Holker stressed. “[It’s] something that I think we’re still cultivating and working to this day. I hope we can be an inspiration to other people and see and bring them into how we navigate it together.”

Weslie, for her part, explained that they’ve been able to “really understand” one another by having and facilitating frequent conversations.

“I don’t know how to explain it, but we think from multiple perspectives, and we give each other time,” Weslie said. “We just talk things out. … I think we’re so different. I don’t think we’re similar at all.”

According to Weslie, the mother-daughter pair have “polar opposite” personality types.

Allison Holker’s daughter Weslie is coming to her defense amid the ongoing social media drama regarding her This Far memoir detailing Stephen “tWitch” Boss’ alleged addiction and mental health struggles. “My stepdad’s been gone for two years and I’m still getting hate comments,” Weslie, 16, said in a Friday, January 10, Instagram video. “It’s just […]

“I go to you for a lot because of that,” Holker said. “You have a lot more strength in areas that I wish I had. In places I feel like I need help or advice, I always lean to you because you would have said the opposite thing I would think. I love that about you.”

Despite different approaches to many situations, Holker and Weslie agree about the benefits of going to therapy. Weslie even proclaimed that “everyone should have therapy.”

“I’m glad you do. I remember when I put you into it, I wanted you to really find the benefit of it,” Holker said. “I never wanted you to feel like it was something that was being thrown at you that you have to do. I never wanted to feel like, it was a burden and weighing you down. I was hoping that you’d find it was something enjoyable for you to do and something that you found to be a release.”

Holker further noted that she’s “really grateful” that Weslie has continued to stick with her therapy sessions.
