Amanda Seyfried Reveals Temporary Chopped Bangs in ‘Flashback’ Photo from Long Bright River Set

  • Amanda Seyfried debuts a new look!
  • The actress shared a carousel of behind-the-scenes photos on Instagram from her time on Peacock’s Long Beach River
  • In March, Seyfried spoke with PEOPLE about her new role, admitting that she has “always wanted to play a cop”

Amanda Seyfried is showing off her new bangs while on the set of Peacock’s Long Bright River.

Seyfried, 39, showed behind-the-scenes photos taken during production of the thriller series, flaunting a new hairstyle in an Instagram carousel on Tuesday, June 3. Seyfried starred as Mickey Fitzpatrick, a Philadelphia police officer searching for her sister, in the series.

However, the actress’s bangs were not here to stay. In the caption of her post, she described the photo as “a flashback idea that we cut out of the gate.”

The Mean Girls actress was also seen with her signature blond locks, without bangs, at the I Don’t Understand screening on Monday, June 2.

The third photo in Tuesday’s carousel showed Seyfried in the makeup chair FaceTiming her youngest child, Thomas, 4, with the screen turned upward toward the ceiling.

“Third is usually what you get when you’re FaceTiming your youngest,” Seyfried continued in the caption.

She included a video of herself showing off one of her musical talents writing, “sixth is some serious English horn study proof.”

In the last slide, Seyfried is seen crocheting, which received many more comments than her temporary bangs because of how she sat.

“You have some crazy flexibility Amanda..” one commenter wrote.

“I think you accidentally crocheted your legs too 😂” wrote another Instagram user.

In March, Seyfried told PEOPLE that she landed her dream part when she was cast as Mickey in Long Bright River.

“I’ve always wanted to play a cop,” Seyfried said at the time. “It’s like a childhood dream to play somebody that I just was always in awe of, even though it’s funny [because] I’m not good with authority.”

Adapted from Liz Moore’s 2020 novel of the same name, the limited series questions the perception of police in a community affected by the opioid crisis. Seyfried’s character works on the case of three women who were found dead in the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia.

“One of the facets of her character is that she’s actually not that talented as a police officer. The police work does not come naturally to her,” Moore told PEOPLE. “In some ways, I think she was meant to do something else, but the circumstances of her life have combined to make police work what she’s doing at this moment.”

Seyfried added that what appealed most to her about playing Mickey was that it gave her a range of material to work with.

”This is a girl that has got a lot of issues, a lot of traumas,” Seyfried said. “She’s a cop, she has a kid, she’s a single mother, and she’s flexing and trying to get by, and she has all these responsibilities. It just seemed like it was chaos for her.”

Long Bright River is now streaming on Peacock.
