What Happened in ‘Andor’ Season 2, Episodes 7-9?
One year after episode 8, the rebellion has grown dramatically and established a base on Yavin IV. Cassian and Bix (Adria Arjona) are apparently estranged from Luthen Rael (Stellan Skarsgård), but the former accepts a mission from Wilmon Paak (Muhannad Bhaier) on Luthen’s behalf to return to Ghorman and assassinate Dedra Meero (Denise Gough) for what she did to their home world.
Thanks to Dedra’s plan, the situation on Ghorman has gotten even worse. The rebels there despise Syril Karn (Kyle Soller) after realizing he was sent to spy on them, and the Empire is so restrictive that even Cassian’s hotel was swarming with stormtroopers. One of the rebel leaders, Carro Rylanz (Richard Sammel), angrily approached Syril and revealed that Imperial mining ships have already arrived on the planet. Syril realized that Dedra lied to him about the Empire’s intentions and threatened her until she confirmed the truth. Syril’s illusions about the Empire were shattered even before the planned massacre of Ghorman citizens took place immediately afterwards.
In the middle of the chaos, Syril spotted Cassian and nearly managed to murder him before Carro killed the former with a shot to the head. Cassian narrowly escaped the planet with a damaged Imperial K2 droid. The next day, Mon Mothma (Genevieve O’Reilly) made a daring speech in the imperial senate in which she denounced the Empire for the genocide on Ghorman. As one last favor to Luthen, Cassian extracted Mon from the senate and returned to Yavin IV to inform Bix that he wanted to leave the rebellion. However, Bix left Cassian during the night with a message that she had to leave him because she refused to stop fighting for the rebellion. As Cassian wrestled with his heartache, rebel technicians invited him to watch as K-2S0 was brought online after being successfully reprogrammed to serve the rebels.
