Angelina Jolie’s Son Took Over Her Old NYC Apartment, Asked Her for a ‘Day to Clean’ Before Visit

Angelina Jolie revealed that one of her sons is living in her former New York City apartment — and he’s already made himself right at home.

“The other day I said I was going to pop by, and he was like, ‘Can you just give me a day to clean?’” Jolie, 49, said in an interview with The New York Times published Monday, March 24. “I thought, ‘I appreciate that, you should clean up for your mother. But also, how bad is it?’”

The Oscar winner didn’t specify which of her sons is living in the apartment, which she bought in her 20s, but the outlet noted that her other kids have also started using it as a “crash pad.”

Jolie shares Maddox, 23, Pax, 21, Zahara, 20, Shiloh, 18, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 16, with ex-husband Brad Pitt. The former couple settled their divorce in December 2024, eight years after legally filing to end their relationship.

“More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt. She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family,” Jolie’s lawyer James Simon told Us Weekly in a statement at the time. “This is just one part of a long ongoing process that started eight years ago. Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over.”

Days later, Jolie attended the 2025 Golden Globe Awards, where she was accompanied by daughter Zahara on the red carpet. The actress was nominated for her portrayal of opera singer Maria Callas in Netflix’s film Maria but lost to Fernanda Torres, who won for her role in I’m Still Here.

Earlier this month, Jolie joined Zahara at a charity brunch event in Montgomery, Alabama, where the college student gave a speech on behalf of the Women in Training Inc. organization (WIT). Founded by 17-year-old twins Breanna and Brooke Bennett, WIT’s mission is alleviating period poverty, which is defined as the inability to afford menstrual hygiene products like tampons and pads.

“We’re very happy Zahara came!” Breanna told Us in a statement. “Her speech was perfection and so vulnerable, yet powerful! It was exactly what we wanted the whole event to be about and it wouldn’t have been the same without her!”

Brooke, meanwhile, added that she and her sister “were elated” Zahara accepted their invitation to speak at the event. “The great thing is that we have now developed a working relationship with Zahara,” she noted. “We want to partner with her to take our menstrual equity message globally.”
