- An animal rescue in Canada named six adoptable dogs after popular Generation Alpha slang terms
- The canines are named Skibidi, Rizz, Sigma, Gyat, Cap and Ohio
- Gen Alpha typically refers to those born between 2013 and 2025
One animal rescue kept things cool and hip when choosing names for a group of adoptable dogs.
Funds for Furry Friends, an organization in Manitoba, Canada, named six pups after popular Generation Alpha slang terms — including Skibidi, Rizz, Sigma, Gyat, Cap and Ohio. (Gen Alpha typically refers to those born between 2013 and 2025.)
“Please welcome our Gen Alpha litter — because nothing screams 2025 like a group of pups named after TikTok vocabulary we only half understand,” Funds for Furry Friends wrote in the caption of an Instagram post showing off the dogs.
In a later update, the organization revealed that Ohio was adopted, but the other pups are still looking for their forever homes.

According to Know Your Meme, “Sigma” refers to a man who is more humble than an alpha, while “Cap” refers to a lie, per Urban Dictionary.
“Rizz” is an abbreviation for the word charisma, and “Ohio” is used to describe something as weird, NBC News reported.

“Gyat,” for its part, is used in a flattering way to describe a curvy individual, per Urban Dictionary. It is typically an acronym for, “Girl Your Ass Thicc.”
Skibidi, meanwhile, doesn’t have a set definition. It gained popularity after it was used by Skibidi Toilet, a YouTube show that shows human-headed toilets going up against camera-headed humans, according to Merriam-Webster.
Speaking with Today, Erika Shelby, the Funds for Furry Friends’ social media manager, said she and intake coordinator Dana Holden have to “get creative” when naming adoptable dogs, so no pup has the same name.
The outlet reported that the pair settled on using the Gen Alpha slang terms as monikers for the dogs after they bonded over the strange words their young sons use. “Anyone with a 12-year-old will know what we mean,” Shelby said.
Holden and Shelby are now “pretty excited” about the attention they and their rescue have gotten for the fun canine names, explaining, “We both spend so much of our lives dedicated to rescue life.”
Those interested in adopting the remaining dogs can do so here.
