Anna Faris suffered a great loss when her home burned down in the Los Angeles fires in January, but she’s had son Jack to lean on.
“He’s also handled the situation with the fires well, too,” Faris, 48, exclusively reveals in the latest issue of Us Weekly. “I really appreciate that.”
The actress notes that her 12-year-old is “awesome,” explaining, “For a kid who’s been raised in Hollywood, he’s incredibly down-to-earth and practical.”
Faris shares Jack with ex-husband Chris Pratt, to whom she was married from 2009 to 2018. After their divorce, Faris moved on with Michael Barrett, whom she wed in 2021.
In January, both Faris and Pratt, 45, evacuated their respective Pacific Palisades neighborhoods in Los Angeles as fires ravaged the area.
Pratt documented the aftermath later that month while returning to his and wife Katherine Schwarzenegger’s home to find it still standing. (Pratt shares three kids with Schwarzenegger, daughters Lyla, 4, and Eloise, 2, and son Ford, 4 months.)
Faris’ home, however, didn’t survive. “It’s truly devastating, as you know. Silver lining is my house was saved but, at the same time, so many people’s houses were burned around us and the community’s gone,” Pratt said via an Instagram video at the time. “My son’s school is gone. My son’s mom’s house burned down.”

Faris’ house is one of 18,000 homes and structures that burned in the L.A. wildfires —mainly comprised of the Palisades Fire and the Eaton Fire nearby. The Mom alum for her part has chosen to look on the bright side and lean into work as a coping mechanism.
“It’s surreal and has been tough, [but] we feel fortunate because we’re safe,” Faris tells Us, explaining, “I’m really grateful to be working.”

The actress teamed up with Scrubbing Bubbles shortly after the fires ended to interview candidates for their “The Easiest Job in the World” campaign. (The campaign uses the brand’s Easy Clean to tidy up bathrooms with little to no effort.)
“It was so great to be on set, distracted [and] laughing,” Faris tells Us. “I just can’t reiterate how fortunate we are to be safe, and I think that’s kind of how we manage the grief.”
In addition to the cleaning campaign, Faris recently filmed the comedy Spa Weekend, which brought her joy after the darkness of the fires.
“I was thinking this morning how sad I’m going to be when this project is over because it’s been so incredible to work with these women under these circumstances,” she gushes of her costars Leslie Mann, Isla Fisher and Michelle Buteau. “We’re all at this stage in life where we feel so appreciative of each other. We keep fantasizing about a sequel.”
While fans consider Faris a comedy queen after starring in Scary Movie, Just Friends and The House Bunny, she tells Us that her son isn’t always as sure of her comedic chops.
“He rolls his eyes, but on occasion, he’ll [say], ‘Mom, you’re kind of funny,’” Faris shares, noting, “I love having a boy because that mother-son bond is something special.”
