Ariana Grande Transforms Into Unrecognizable Grandma in Short Film: See Her New Look

Ariana Grande takes transformations seriously.

Grande, 31, had fun (temporarily) morphing into an elderly version of herself for her “Brighter Days Ahead” short film, which was released via YouTube on Friday, March 28. For the video, Grande played an older version of her “We Can’t Be Friends Wait for Your Love” character, Peaches, as she relived memories that were wiped from her brain in the original music video.

Her dramatic makeover included wrinkly prosthetics that completely covered her face and neck. To further get into character, Grande donned gray hair, which was parted to the side and pinned back with pearly clips. She even wore hearing aids and eyeglasses around her neck while she was pushed in a wheelchair.

Throughout the film, Grande debuted new songs from her deluxe Eternal Sunshine album, which was also released on Friday. Ahead of the short film’s launch, Grande gave a preview of her grandma look via Instagram. Just like her true self, she still rocked her famous hand tattoos and long nails. The singer tied her look together with a brown knit cardigan and matching top.

She captioned the post with a single heart emoji. However, fans flooded the comments section, expressing their shocked reaction to her dramatic transformation.

“Granny is that u?” one follower wrote, as a second added, “Granny peaches 🥹.” A third gushed, “The wise proud Granny we all want to be adopted by 😭.”

Directed by Christian Breslauer and Grande herself, the official plot of the short film follows Peaches 70 years after her first Brighter Days Inc. appointment as she revisits “a curated selection of moments from her life — both cherished and painful,” according to YouTube. “We watch her confront and heal certain wounds (personal and professional alike) that have made her who she is today … However, there’s one catch: once a memory is relived, it is erased forever.”
