Ava Phillippe has some tattoo regrets.
Ava, 25, who is the daughter of Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe, gave her followers a tour of all eight of her arm tattoos on Wednesday, June 11. Before showing off all her ink, she shared that she’s in the process of getting three removed for “various reasons.”
“This is my first tattoo that I got in college,” she said, pointing to a feather etched into her right wrist. “I went to [San Francisco] with a friend for a day and just said, ‘Why not?’” She went on to explain that the feather reminds her to “keep things light.”
Moving onto her left arm, Ava showed off a “9999” tattoo, representing her birthday, September 9, 1999, and her angel — or lucky — numbers. “I just feel like nine shows up in a lot of ways in my life.” Ava then panned the camera to an “admit one” ticket, which she’s getting removed. “I just feel like it doesn’t resonate with me anymore,” she explained. “Initially, I wanted to get it because it was like, ‘You got the ticket, what are you gonna do with it?’”
Back on her right arm, she has “true” written on her forearm in bright blue letters; a reminder to always be true to herself.
“These are my birds,” Ava said, moving up to her upper right arm. “They symbolize me and my two brothers,” Ava said, referencing Deacon Phillippe 21, and Tennessee Toth, 12. (Witherspoon shares Tennessee with her ex-husband Jim Toth.)
She also noted the ink was a nod to a similar tattoo “somebody else in [her] family used to have.”
“But we don’t talk about that,” she said, giving the camera a side eye.
Ava also showed the remnants of a crying eye on the inside of her elbow, which she’s also getting removed. “I didn’t love how it turned out,” she said, noting she’s already had three laser treatments.
On the back of her arm, Ava has a candle being lit with a match, but she’s also “getting rid” of it. “I honestly forget about it all the time and I don’t feel like it’s necessary anymore.”
Last but not least, Ava has an orchid with a baby’s face in it on her left arm, which she shared is her favorite. “It symbolizes the sensitive little kid that I was. Orchards are notoriously sensitive and require a bit of extra time and love to thrive.”

Ava’s tattoo tour comes after she responded to comments that her boyfriend, Dakota Brubaker, looks like her dad, Ryan, 50. In a now-viral TikTok, Ava shook her head “no” while Brubaker walked into the fram wearing a black turtleneck and round glasses, just like Ryan wore in Cruel Intentions, in which he co-starred with Witherspoon, 49. Ava made the social media video even more hilarious by playing The Verve’s “Bitter Sweet Symphony,” which was also featured in Cruel Intentions as Annette (played by Witherspoon) drove off into the sunset with Sebastian (Ryan).
