Ava Phillippe knows that fans pointing out similarities between her dad Ryan Phillippe and boyfriend Dakota Brubaker do not have Cruel Intentions.
Ava, 25, shared a TkiTok video on Wednesday, June 11 poking fun at their resembleces. During the clip, Ava stood in frame with a confused expression while Brubaker appeared wearing a black turtleneck and round frame wire-rimmed glasses. Brubaker’s look appeared to be a homage to Ava’s dad Ryan’s iconic look from the 1999 film Cruel Intentions.
The video was set to “Bittersweet Symphony” by the Verve, the iconic soundtrack to the film’s pivotal final scene. Ava’s mother Reese Witherspoon, 49, co-starred with now ex-husband Ryan, 50, on the film. “you guys… whaaaaattt @Dakota Brubaker,” Ava wrote in the caption of the video which also saw her mouth “no, no no, no,” at the realization of the resemblance.
Her video follows one fan commenting, “Close enough. Welcome back Reese & Ryan!” on a lip-syncing video she and Brubaker had shared the previous day.
Witherspoon and Ryan divorced in 2008. The couple also shares son Deacon Phillippe, 21. Witherspoon also shares son Tennessee James Toth, 12, with her ex Jim Toth.
And back in May, Ryan exclusively told PEOPLE what a source of “pride” his children are.
The actor, who in addition to Ava and Deacon shares daughter Kai with ex Alexis Knapp, said “what makes me proudest is seeing all three of my kids [have] success and achieve.”
“I’m wanting and hoping that they have happy and well-balanced lives,” he said. “I think that’s where the biggest source of pride in my life comes from: seeing them achieve and be good people.”
Both Deacon and Ava have recently followed in their parents’ footsteps into the world of acting: Ava appeared on an episode of the ABC series Doctor Odyssey in April, while Deacon popped up in his dad’s new Prime Video series Motorheads.

“I think that [acting] for both of them is very much still an exploration,” Ryan reflected, adding that because both Ava and Deacon “grew up on sets,” acting was a “natural thing in some ways” for them.
