NBA star Anthony Edwards filed a response to Ayesha Howard’s request for sole custody of their newborn daughter amid their ongoing paternity saga.
Howard, 38, filed new court documents on March 11, calling herself a “fit and loving mother” as she requested sole legal and physical custody, care and control of the pair’s child, who was born in 2024.
Howard initially named Edwards, 23, in a September 2024 lawsuit, claiming he fathered her then-unborn baby. The Minnesota Timberwolves star later filed a motion of his own, asking for a DNA test conducted by a “neutral and licensed laboratory” to confirm his paternity.
In Howard’s latest documents, she claimed Edwards underwent DNA testing in December 2024 that confirmed he is the father and should be reflected on the birth certificate.

“It is in the minor child’s best interest that upon the establish of paternity and the determination that [Anthony] is the legal and biological father of the minor child that the [her] birth certificate be amended by entering [Anthony’s] name as the father of the minor child.”
Howard — who also shares a son with rapper Lil Baby — hopes they can reach a settlement agreement. She also requested that Edwards reimburse her for any “actual costs incurred for her pregnancy, birth and expenses incurred after the child’s birth” and child support payments to cover their daughter’s education, upbringing and maintenance. She also wants the NBA player to pay for her attorney’s fees.
Edwards filed his response the same day, admitting he is the child’s biological father but did not respond to Howard’s financial requests. Edwards also noted that he and Howard do not currently have a “child support obligation in place.”

Edwards has not further addressed the paternity scandal. He is reportedly father to three older children. He shares daughter Aislynn with Shannon Jackson and has been rumored to share daughter Aris with Daja and son Amir with Ally J. (Neither Daja nor Ally J have confirmed whether the athlete is the father to their respective children.)

Edwards and Jackson have been together since 2020, welcoming their daughter Aislynn in March 2024.
Jackson subtly addressed the scandal in October 2024.
“You say I’m one of God’s strongest soldiers. Put me on the front line,” Jackson quipped during an Instagram Live session. “If I gotta un-baby daddy him then I gotta un-baby daddy the first one. Damn!”
She added, “Can I say this? Y’all just finding out. For the comment that said I was hurting on the inside, pick a side, you definitely look early 30s. Listen, y’all be trying to make a motherf—er feel bad about if they old or not, but a lot of y’all ain’t even guaranteed till 30. Gotta make sure my man doesn’t pull up before y’all. He see me on Live because he’s gonna be like [criticizing me], ‘Why you on Live telling them people your business?’ This fake outrage you are having, pull your panties out of your bunch.”
