King Carl XVI Gustaf’s birthday celebrations doubled as a milestone moment for Princess Ines of Sweden!
On April 30, Sweden’s King rang in his 79th birthday, which came with a traditional celebration by the Armed Forces in the outer courtyard of the Royal Palace in Stockholm and a balcony appearance by the royal family. New to the crew was 2-month-old Princess Ines.
The Swedish royal family expanded in February when Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia welcomed their fourth child and first daughter, Princess Ines Marie Lilian Silvia. The royal couple was already parents to sons Prince Alexander, 9, Prince Gabriel, 7, and Prince Julian, 4.
The little princess’ middle names honor Sofia’s mother, Marie, and Carl Philip’s mom, Queen Silvia, and the royal baby made her balcony debut on Wednesday.
Princess Sofia carried Princess Ines on the terrace of the royal residence, where they matched in white outfits. Ines’ big brothers Alexander and Gabriel tagged along, but Julian wasn’t pictured.
The Swedish royals otherwise appeared in full force for King Carl XVI Gustaf’s birthday, with Prince Carl Philip, 45, and Crown Princess Victoria participating in the official entry on the courtyard. The trio later headed up to join the rest of the family, including Queen Silvia, Victoria’s husband Prince Daniel and their kids, Princess Estelle, 13, and Prince Oscar, 9, Princess Sofia and three of her four children, and Princess Madeleine and her husband Christopher O’Neill alongside their kids Princess Leonore, 11, Prince Nicolas, 9, and Princess Adrienne, 7.
Cameras captured a sweet moment where everyone seemingly turned to look at little Princess Ines, who will turn three months old next week.

On Feb. 7, the Swedish Royal Court shared the happy news that Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia, 40, welcomed their fourth child, a baby girl. The royal couple introduced their daughter to the world in a modern way a few days later with an Instagram picture.
“Princess Ines photographed by Princess Sofia,” read the caption of the snap, which showed the infant cuddled up in an outfit printed with hearts, just in time for Valentine’s Day.
Royal watchers have another precious moment to look forward to in a few weeks involving the little princess. On June 13, Princess Ines will be christened at Drottningholm Palace Chapel in Stockholm in a day that doubles as her parents’ tenth wedding anniversary.
