Babysitter Checking for Monsters Finds Man Hiding Under Child’s Bed

A young child proved to his babysitter that sometimes monsters are indeed hiding under the bed.

While watching children at a Grand Bend, Kansas, home March 24, a babysitter made a chilling discovery when she found a man—later identified by the sheriff’s office as Martin Villalobos Jr., 27—hiding under a child’s bed.

According to a statement shared by Barton County Sheriff’s Office on Facebook March 26, the young woman found Villalobos after one of the children in her care complained of “monsters” and she “attempted to show the child there was nothing under the bed.”

However, the young woman stood corrected.

“She came face-to-face with a male suspect who was hiding there,” the statement continued of the babysitter, who was not identified by name. “An altercation ensued with the babysitter and one child was knocked over in the struggle. The suspect then fled the scene before deputies arrived.”

However, the sheriff’s office says the babysitter was able to identify the perpetrator as Villalobos, who, per the Barton County Sheriff’s statement, had once lived at the residence, before a protection order from abuse required he “stay away from the property.”
