Bachelor alum Madi Prewett is opening up about all the most “beautiful” and “hard” parts of her first months as a mom.
During the Monday, March 24, episode of her “Stay True” podcast, the 29-year-old sat down with her husband, Grant Troutt, to reflect on welcoming their first baby, daughter Hosanna. The couple admitted that there was a lot they didn’t know about parenting until they were experiencing it themselves — including Prewett’s “breast-feeding journey.”
According to the former reality star, Hosanna “didn’t pee or poop” for two days after coming home from the hospital in January. Troutt pointed out that not needing to change the baby’s diaper meant she wasn’t eating.
“I’m having a meltdown and breakdown,” Prewett recalled. “I’m like, ‘What’s going on? Am I not producing enough milk? Is she not liking my milk? Is she sick?’ We didn’t know what was going on.”
Prewett leaned on other moms for support, including her cousin, who has two kids. “I said, ‘Hey, this is what’s going on, I might have to put her on formula,’” Prewett continued. “She’s only a few days old, I really don’t want to have to do that. Because the beauty of breast-feeding is just so good for the baby. Nothing against formula, but I really did not want to have to give her formula. Like, I really wanted for her to have the milk that is God-designed inside of me.”
Prewett remembered feeling “really upset” by the situation, but her cousin offered a solution in the form of her own frozen breast milk. “That should change everything,” her cousin said.
Another friend of Prewett’s did the same, also giving her a spare pump. “When she came over, Hosanna ended up pooping all over the place,” Prewett recalled. “We truly started laughing and thanking Jesus … We were like, ‘We never thought we would thank God for blowout.’”

Fans of The Bachelor first saw Prewett vying for Peter Weber‘s heart on season 24 in early 2020. She eliminated herself before the final rose, leading Weber to propose to Hannah Ann Sluss. However, Weber’s lingering feelings for Prewett caused the engagement to be short-lived. He briefly reconnected with Prewett, but they ultimately parted ways.
Prewett moved on with Troutt, the son of a billionaire, making their romance Instagram official in May 2022. Two months later, they announced their engagement. The couple exchanged vows in October 2022 and announced Prewett’s pregnancy in August 2024.
