Do things end badly for the characters in Bad Influence (Mala Influencia)?

Netflix’s new Spanish thriller follows Reese Russell (Eléa Rochera), a teen dancer who is the target of a terrifying and mysterious stalker. Reese’s wealthy father, Bruce Russell (Enrique Arce), hires an ex-con, Eros Douglas (Alberto Olmo), as her bodyguard to keep her safe.

Reese is initially resistant to being watched over, but with danger escalating around them, she and Eros grow closer as they try to solve the identity of her stalker. Although Reese is surrounded by suspicious people — including jealous classmates and her bitter ex-boyfriend, Raul (Fer Fraga) — she doesn’t know why anyone would want to harm her.

Reese, along with her dad and Eros, find themselves face-to-face with the wannabe murderer, and it’s someone closer than they could have ever imagined.

So how does Bad Influence end? Here’s everything to know about whether Reese and Eros survive the stalker and end up together.

What happens at the end of Bad Influence?

Throughout the movie, Reese survives multiple close calls, including a spotlight almost falling on her during a dance recital, a shocking car explosion and receiving a bouquet with a gift box full of teeth attached.

While trying to solve the mystery of the stalker, Reese becomes suspicious of Eros’ friend and roommate, Peyton (Mirela Balić). Reese learns that Peyton doesn’t work at a bar like she claimed; instead, she’s a cleaner at Reese’s high school.

Reese brings up her theory to Eros, who later asks Peyton at their apartment if she’s the one who has been targeting Reese. Peyton denies the accusation, but as she tries to explain herself, she pushes Eros, accidentally knocking him unconscious.

Reese comes to Eros’ apartment looking for him, and Bruce follows, searching for his daughter. Peyton lets them in, and once Eros wakes up, she confesses her surprising connection to all of them.

Who is Reese’s stalker?

Reese is paranoid about who around her would want to hurt her, and one of the main suspects is her bitter ex-boyfriend, Raul. At one point, her dad, Bruce, is also suggested as possibly the person behind the attacks.

In the end, it is revealed that Reese’s stalker is not Raul but Eros’ longtime close friend, Peyton. She had tried to talk Eros out of taking the job of Reese’s bodyguard since she was the one responsible for terrorizing her.

Why did Peyton want to kill Reese?

Peyton wanted revenge on Reese and her family.

While holding Reese, Eros and Bruce hostage, Peyton revealed that 16 years ago, her mother and Eros’ parents worked at a restaurant owned by Bruce. One night, the establishment caught on fire, and their parents died, along with Reese’s mom.

Though he was only a boy, Eros was blamed for the fire and sent to a juvenile detention center. There, Eros, Peyton and their friend Diego (Farid Bechara) became close. Years later, Bruce had Eros released from the center when he agreed to protect his daughter.

Who dies at the end of Bad Influence?

Reese, Eros and Peyton survive, but in a twist, not Reese’s dad, Bruce.

During the apartment showdown, Eros attacks Peyton, allowing Reese and Bruce to escape. The three of them run down the building stairs, as Peyton fires her gun down the stairwell at them. She stops and collapses once she realizes she has shot one of them.

In the next scene, Reese is sitting on a dock, reading a social media post announcing the death of Bruce, who was killed in the shooting.

Even though Bruce is dead, Reese still calls and leaves him a voicemail telling him that she got into a dance company. She ends the message by saying, “I hope you’re really proud of me. I love you.”

Do Reese and Eros end up together?

Yes, Reese and Eros discover who the stalker is and stay together. In the scene following their encounter with Peyton, they share an emotional and quiet moment as they kiss on a dock.

In a voicemail to her dad, Reese reveals that she has gotten into the dance company she auditioned for. She calls and leaves a message for Eros, also telling him the news.

In the final scene, Eros visits Reese during her dance rehearsal. After the other dancers leave, Reese and Eros embrace and kiss onstage. The two dance around, finally able to relax after knowing their lives are no longer in danger.
