Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy was not impressed with Patrick Mahomes’ performance at Super Bowl LIX.
“Emergency press conference, still third quarter, but the Chiefs have embarrassed themselves on a national scale,” Portnoy, 47, shared via TikTok on Sunday, February 9. “Absolutely demolished by the Eagles. Patrick Mahomes looks like a JV quarterback.”
The podcast host, who is a New England Patriots superfan, went on to demand sports fans stop comparing the Kansas City Chiefs to his favorite NFL team.
“The Chiefs would never ever beat the Patriots dynasty, not in a million years,” he shared. “Patrick Mahomes is not Tom Brady. Tom Brady has never puked on himself how Patrick Mahomes just did. And I know Patrick Mahomes don’t like Barstool, big deal, but that’s not why. He was awful. Couldn’t rise up, horrible throws. No protection, fine. Brady would have found a way.”

In the biggest football game of the year, the Philadelphia Eagles pulled off a big win, beating the Kansas City Chiefs handily 40 to 22 and denying the Chiefs the opportunity to become the first NFL team in history to win three Super Bowl games in a row.
“Patriots have never embarrassed themselves like that in a big game ever,” Portnoy continued in his TikTok video. “They’ve never been blown out like that in a Super Bowl.”
While Mahomes, 29, hasn’t responded to Portnoy’s TikTok, he did deliver a message to fans after the game.

“Appreciate all the love and support from #ChiefsKingdom,” he wrote via X on Sunday after the game. “I let y’all down today. I’ll always continue to work and try and learn and be better for it. Want to give thanks to God for every opportunity he has given me. We will be back.”
Chiefs coach Andy Reid also spoke to reporters after the game and said he was “proud” of his team despite the loss.

“We’ll learn from this, like most games here when you don’t do very well,” he said. “You learn from it as a coach and learn from it as a player and move on.”
If Portnoy has his way, this loss will allow the Chiefs to “never ever” be mentioned in the same breath as the New England Patriots.
“Mahomes isn’t in the same league as Tom Brady,” he said. “Andy Reid is not in the same league as [former Patriots coach] Bill Belichick. We got a terrible game but at least we settled that debate.”
