Benny Blanco Had a ‘Specific Vision’ for Selena Gomez’s Engagement Ring

Benny Blanco had a vision for Selena Gomez’s engagement ring.

Blanco, 36, got on one knee and popped the question to Gomez, 32, earlier this month with a dazzling marquise diamond set on a gold band. The ring designers, Katherine Theofilos Claster and Stephanie Theofilos, later opened up to Page Six about custom designing the rock with Blanco.

“We started the project earlier this year. Benny, a wonderful creative himself, had [a] specific inspiration, including the center cut, the marquise,” Theofilos said.

“Benny had a very sharp idea of what he ultimately envisioned,” she continued, noting that Blanco was “immediately drawn” to the marquise diamond, which “captures the essence of an heirloom piece with a modern hand.”

Of course, Blanco added his own personal touch to the ring as well with “a handful of special symbols,” per Theofilos, which made the diamond sparkle even more in the light.

Gomez is also a huge fan of her ring, which is estimated to be around six carats and worth $225,000, according to Jared Jewelers expert and VP of Merchandising Ann Grimmett. She showed it off via Instagram earlier this month while moving her hand around in the sunlight, proving just how sparkly the piece is.

“I’ve just dreamed of this moment my whole life,” she gushed at the time.

Gomez previously shared a zoomed in pic of her ring via Instagram when Blanco proposed during a romantic picnic he set up for her on a set. For their date, she wore a tan furry coat, blue Banana Republic jeans and white sneakers. The couple enjoyed her favorite guilty pleasure, Taco Bell, before heading home and cuddling up together on the floor of her closet.

Blanco, for his part, wore a pink-and-white pinstripe collared shirt over a sage green waffle T-shirt and dark blue jeans.
