Blake Lively and Gigi Hadid have been by each other’s side for years before the It Ends With Us star became involved in a lengthy legal battle with costar Justin Baldoni.
The duo, who were first photographed together in 2014, have been spotted on several occasions with their fellow, shared BFF Taylor Swift. Four years later, the trio celebrated New Years Eve with several other celeb pals in tow.
In 2024, Hadid stepped out with Lively to attend husband Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool & Wolverine premiere. The pair honored the MCU characters via their attire, with Hadid rocking a yellow get-up and Lively donning a red outfit. Hadid, for her part, also weighed in on Lively’s It Ends With Us film, which was set to be released one month later. “It is actually so good,” Hadid told E! News. “I’m not paid to say it. It’s great.”
Months later, Lively made headlines when she accused her It Ends With Us costar and director, in part, of sexual harassment. Baldoni has denied all allegations against him. While fans decoded Swift’s feelings about the legal battle (her name has been brought up on multiple occasions), a source exclusively told Us Weekly that Hadid had “naturally’ distanced herself from Lively.

Swift hosted a star-studded New Year’s Eve bash with pals Lively and Hadid to ring in 2019. In images the Eras Tour performer shared via Instagram, Swift dressed up as the Little Mermaid while Hadid rocked a Mary Poppins costume and Lively embodied Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz.

Hadid gushed over Lively in celebration of the actress’ 32nd birthday, alongside a photo of the twosome posing inside a kitchen.
“It’s this Queen’s birthday week and I just want to say how grateful and lucky I am to have a friend like you, B,” Hadid wrote via Instagram at the time. “You are a real one and inspire me in so many ways. I will only be able to thank you enough by making you endless oatmeal griddle cakes and training your children to be world class disposable-camera photographers. I love you ! Hadid gushed over Lively while sharing a throwback snap for her birthday. “Pretty sure this pic is before her (our) baby number 1 but I just love it bc I still feel like the baby of the group,” Hadid wrote via Instagram Story. “Lots-o-angelbabies later, u are a magical friend and mamma — protective, warm, witty, thoughtful, talented, HOT!” she continued. “Ur made of all the good stuff like rainbow sprinkles and butter and bourbon whipped creme. And lobster salad. Lots of lobster salad.”

“He’s such a hen. He can hang with men, but he’s really a hen at heart,” she told Entertainment Tonight, while Hadid added, “He loves a girls’ night and to hear all the goss.”

Amid Lively’s ongoing legal battle with Baldoni, an insider told Us that Hadid has “always had a closer friendship with Taylor and stands by her.” The source shared, “She has been a very loyal friend to Taylor, and they have been best friends for a decade now.”
The insider noted that Hadid “hasn’t necessarily chosen sides” between Lively and Swift, but rather that the current status of their inner circle is a “reflection of the closeness her and Taylor have shared over the years.”
The source added that Hadid and Lively “really haven’t been as close in almost a year” but there are “no hard feelings” between the two.
“As Taylor has begun to distance herself from Blake, Gigi has naturally done the same,” the insider said. “The shift wasn’t abrupt, but gradual and organic change in dynamics.”
While Swift and Lively’s friendship has allegedly changed amid the legal battle, Hadid “doesn’t want to be involved at all,” the source said. “They haven’t been in touch much this year and it does have everything to do with the lawsuit.”
