Brad Pitt is not opposed to appearing on screen alongside Tom Cruise again in the future, but the actor does have one condition.
“I’m not gonna hang my ass off airplanes and [explicit] like that, so when he does something again that’s on the ground,” Pitt, 61, said while speaking with E! News on Monday, June 9, at the Mexico City premiere of F1.
Cruise, 62, is known for his death-defying stunts in his Mission: Impossible films, whether it’s hanging off the side of a plane or leaping across rooftops of super tall buildings. The longtime actor has quite the growing list of adrenaline-filled, anxiety-inducing scenes he has taken part in through the years.
The action star recently talked about F1 at the London premiere of Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning in an Instagram video that was shared by Javier Ibarreche on May 15. In the clip, Cruise was heard saying F1 was a “fun movie” and gave Pitt a shout-out for his work in the lead role.
While promoting F1, Pitt was also asked about how it felt getting praised by Cruise ahead of the theatrical release of the sports drama film.
“It’s so sweet, you know. He’s sweet. Yeah, we did have our go-kart days back in the ‘90s, early ‘90s,” he remarked.
On who was faster in the go-kart days, Pitt said, “He got me in the end, I got to tell you. I gotta admit.”
Pitt and Cruise previously starred together in Interview With the Vampire, the 1994 horror film directed by Neil Jordan. In the past, Pitt mentioned that filming the movie wasn’t his most enjoyable experience for a number of reasons.
In a September 2011 interview with Entertainment Weekly, Pitt was told he looked “miserable” in Interview With the Vampire playing the role of Louis de Pointe du Lac opposite Cruise’s Lestat de Lioncourt. “I am miserable. Six months in the f–king dark,” he replied.
“Contact lenses, makeup, I’m playing the bitch role…” Pitt added.
When asked if he had any inkling of what the role would be like before signing on for the film, Pitt responded, “No, I didn’t.”
“There was no script. I knew the book, and in the book you have this guy asking, ‘Who am I?’ Which was probably applicable to me at that time. ‘Am I good? Am I of the angels? Am I bad? Am I of the devil?’” he reflected. “In the book it is a guy going on this search of discovery. And in the meantime, he has this Lestat character that he’s entranced by and abhors. But then I got the script two weeks before we started shooting.”

When asked if he read earlier drafts of the script, Pitt replied, “No, I didn’t.”
Though Pitt was quick to point out what he didn’t enjoy about filming the movie, there was one positive thing that came out of it.
“The great thing that came out of that movie is that it birthed my love affair with New Orleans,” Pitt told the outlet. “We were shooting nights. So I just rode my bike around all night. I made some great friends there.”
