A bride will stop at nothing to make sure she’s the only one in white at her wedding.
The bride’s younger sister, 21, told her that she is ignoring the traditional rule to not wear a white dress and plans to do so at her sibling’s wedding against her wishes. The bride, 31, explained in a post on Reddit that she has a crafty solution if her sister is serious.
“I told my fiancé that I want to give his groomsmen water guns filled with red wine on the day of our wedding in case she does turn up in white,” she wrote. “He’s all for it.”
The bride, who is getting married in two years, claims that because her sister is “the baby of the family,” she has been “spoiled rotten” her entire life.
“She could literally get away with murder in our mum’s eyes,” the bride said. “Whenever she did anything wrong as a kid, she used to tell our mum that it was either me or one of our other siblings (there’s 8 of us) that did it not her and mum would believe her. Anything she ever wanted she would get (still does).”
The sister, who is excluded from the wedding party, still “likes to be the center of attention,” according to the bride. She believes she is trying to steal her spotlight by wearing white.
After a night out, the mother of the bride’s best friend informed her that her sister said she was “planning on wearing a white dress” to her wedding.

“Now I know what people are going to say: ‘She was drunk, she probably didn’t mean it.’ Wrong,” the bride wrote. “[She] likes to be the center of attention. She totally will do this.”
The Redditor informed her maid of honor what their sister was planning. In response, she told her “not to worry” because their mother would “never let her do that.”
“I don’t believe this for a second because mum lets [her] do whatever she wants,” she said.
So, the bride came up with her water gun insurance policy.
Because the groom “doesn’t particularly like” his future sister-in-law, he’s on board with staining her white dress at the wedding. Meanwhile, the bride’s friends argue it’s a cruel plan.
“I’ve been told that I shouldn’t because that’s a horrible thing to do to anyone, especially my little sister, and I’d be ruining a dress that she’s paid for,” the bride said. “I have warned [her] not to wear white to my wedding so I feel like if she does then she’s doing it to hurt me. But I don’t know if that would make me look bad.”
She concluded, ” I love my little sister and want her to be at my wedding and celebrate our special day with us. I just don’t want her drama.”
In the comments section, most Redditors were supportive of the bride’s plan, arguing that “karma’s a b—-.”
“Kool-aid’s cheap,” one person commented, with someone else adding, “She’ll get her wish for being the center of attention. Just NOT how little sister is expecting 🤣.”
A handful of commenters pointed out that the plan would be counterproductive because it would draw even more attention away from the bride.
“The problem with letting her come to the wedding in a white dress and having the groomsmen armed with water guns and red wine is that this will define your wedding. You are still letting her be the center of attention. This is what people will remember of your wedding,” one user wrote.
