  • At the wedding reception, the bride’s mother, Caroline Ashton, played a prank that was 25 years in the making
  • The bride tells PEOPLE that everyone thought it was “hilarious”

A mother played a "hilarious" risqué prank on her daughter on her wedding day.

In what Fiona Darley, 30, describes as "the single most mortifying moment" of her life, her mother, Caroline Ashton, 62, pulled a prank on her that was 25 years in the making.

Darley married her husband, Joe, 31, at Cavo Ventus in Santorini, Greece, on Oct. 23, the 10th anniversary of the day they met. After the intimate ceremony, the couple and their 28 guests sat outside for dinner, where Ashton took hold of the microphone and began telling a childhood story about the bride.

As seen in a video captured by 21 Degrees Weddings (TikTok and Instagram) and recently posted by the bride on TikTok, Ashton explained that at the end of a vacation in Scotland, she decided to reward Darley, who was 5 years old at the time, for her good behavior by giving her a few dollars to buy herself a present from a shop in Edinburgh.

"It was only when she was playing with this present on the train afterward that I realized what she had bought," Ashton said as Darley covered her mouth with her hand in embarrassment.

She continued, "They'd actually sold a 5-year-old a set of decision dice, which are made for older couples."

Some decision dice feature suggestive actions on each side, and are rolled in a flirtatious game between partners to playfully decide intimate activities.

Everyone laughed and cheered when Ashton suddenly pulled out the original package of decision dice and handed them Darley, who was in shock.

"I've saved you the dice and you can play with them tonight," Ashton said with a cheeky smile as her daughter doubled over with laughter.

Exclusively speaking to PEOPLE, Darley shares that she was in disbelief by the prank. Having heard the story before, she "knew where it was going" but didn't expect the surprise ending.

"I lost my mind when she pulled the freaking things out still in the original packaging," she says.

She adds that her husband "thought it was hilarious" and that their guests "lost it."

Ashton still "can't believe someone sold a sex toy to a 5-year-old," and remembers the cashier having "a smirk on her face" when Darley was at the counter.

Darley explains that some sides of the dice have regular things, such as ketchup, but one side she thought was a slide when she was younger turned out to be two fornicating stick figures.

She notes, "Also no, we haven’t opened them they’re still in the original package. It’s basically a family heirloom at this point."

Now that the speech has 1.5 million views on TikTok, Darley jokes that her mother "has a new fan club." There are nearly 1,000 comments praising Ashton's prank.

"Your mum played the long game and decided your wedding day would be when she declares victory 🤣," one of the top comments reads.

Another person wrote, "Now THIS is a proper prank. No one got hurt and all found it funny, including the recipient."
