During her wedding first look, one bride received a surprise she never saw coming.
The bride, Allison, had been preparing to share a first look with her stepfather ahead of her nuptials in Dickinson, Texas. But when she turned around, she found her brother, Wesley, there instead, according to USA Today.
She told the outlet that she hadn’t seen her brother for six months since he joined the U.S. Marine Corps base in North Carolina. Wesley had asked for leave to attend her wedding, but wasn’t able to get it — at least as far as Allison knew.
In a video of the special moment obtained by USA Today, the bride could be seen getting ready for her first look as the photographer helped get her into place. A person off to the side of the camera then gestured to Wesley to stand behind her as she prepared to turn around.
Wesley then tapped her on Allison’s shoulder, readying for the surprise. When the bride saw her brother standing there, Allison instantly broke down in tears, overcome by the joy of being with him again.
In the video, her brother gave her a hug to comfort her, as nearby family members and friends could be heard laughing and crying in the background.
The video noted that Wesley “received last-minute approval” to take leave to make his sister’s day that much more special, and he “planned the best surprise” for her.

Wesley could then be seen wrapping an arm around his sister after their hug and preparing to pose for more sibling reunion photos. The two looked out over the porch where they were standing as they chatted.
The video concluded with a shot of the joyful brother-sister duo catching up for the first time in six months.
