Brittany Cartwright Clarifies ‘There’s No Hate’ Despite Stassi Schroeder Not Reaching Out Amid Divorce (Exclusive)

Brittany Cartwright and Stassi Schroeder are in the best place they can be despite remaining largely not in touch following a falling out.

During an exclusive interview with Us Weekly about Bravo’s The Valley, Cartwright, 36, recalled the last time she spoke with former Vanderpump Rules costars Schroeder, 36, and Katie Maloney.

“Katie reached out in the very beginning through [my] separation [with Jax Taylor] — but I’ve seen Stassi here and there,” she shared. “I’ve seen Stassi here and there at baby stuff like kids’ parties and stuff.”

Cartwright noted that Schroeder is “always so nice” to her. “I wish her nothing but the best. So there’s no hate or anything going on with either one of them,” she added. “I love them and I want the best for both of them.”

The reality star elaborated during the Tuesday, April 29, episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, saying, “[Stassi] has not [reached out to me amid the divorce] — at all. But I have seen her. I always walk up and give a big hug. We are always very nice and friendly with each other. There is a lot of love there but she hasn’t really reached out.”

According to Cartwright “there’s a lot [that] people don’t know about” about what led to her and Schroeder’s rift. For those Bravo fans who don’t remember, Taylor, 45, and Cartwright missed Schroeder’s wedding to Beau Clark in Italy in 2022. Schroeder, who previously dated Taylor during season 1 of Vanderpump Rules, was first to publicly address speculation about their absences.

“To our faces, they are telling us that they are coming, but behind our back, the dude is texting Beau’s best friend that they’re not,” Schroeder said on the couple’s “The Good the Bad the Baby” podcast in May 2022. “Good friends don’t do that. They don’t talk s*** about your wedding behind your back or pretend that they’re coming and give a list of reasons why they’re not coming to other people. Friends don’t do that to each other.”

She continued: “Two weeks before the wedding, right before I left for the book tour, I was like, ‘We need to address this with them because I’m not playing this game.’ I ordered all the stuff we needed to have in terms of seat assignments and the place cards. That’s done. So I need to know if I need to quickly ask to get things rearranged. Because it’s not just, like, taking out two people.”

Cartwright and Taylor, meanwhile, claimed there were multiple last-minute reasons they couldn’t attend, including their now-4-year-old son, Cruz, not having a passport and a death in the family.

“We had actual reasons why we couldn’t go that were not talked about. Like, Cruz’s passport didn’t come in, my mom had a death in the family and had to go home,” Cartwright explained on the “Betches Moms” podcast in June 2022, shutting down claims that she and her now-estranged husband waited until “the last minute” to cancel. “That was not the case. It was that I was literally trying to be there, up until the very last minute.”

Cartwright was asked by Andy Cohen on Tuesday whether Taylor played a role in the distance, which she confirmed. Taylor, for his part, recently admitted on his podcast that he was “nervous and scared” about reconnecting with Clark and Schroeder.

Despite the ongoing distance between her and Schroeder, Cartwright has remained close to other VPR alums including Lala Kent and Scheana Shay, who will make appearances on season 2 of Bravo’s The Valley.

Stassi Schroeder‘s dynamic with some of her former Vanderpump Rules costars has shifted following her exit from the Bravo show. Stassi was fired alongside Kristen Doute, Max Boyens and Brett Caprioni for their past racially insensitive remarks in June 2020. Former castmate Faith Stowers claimed that Stassi and Kristen reported her to the police in […]

“They’re my really good friends. Our kids literally go to school together and we’re always around each other,” she gushed to Us. “Tom Schwartz is always around as well, so it makes sense that they are [on The Valley] because these are my real friends and I loved having them around.”

Cartwright was grateful for the support as she weathered her public split from Taylor.

“It’s definitely hard. I would say I cry every episode. It’s hard to watch it as a TV show because we’re all filming our own things in different times and then you see what your friends are doing and we get to watch it like that as well,” she noted. “It is a very unique experience when you’re on reality TV that a lot of other people don’t have. I always say that it holds me accountable because I get to learn from myself and watch what’s happening. It’s holding a mirror up to yourself in a lot of ways but it definitely can be difficult.”

Cartwright continued: “[The second episode] was extremely hard but there’s a lot to come that you guys are going to be surprised about. I don’t want to ruin anything but I went through a lot. It was almost like every other day something new was happening in my life and my relationship and there’s going to be a lot more to come surprisingly.”

The Valley airs on Bravo Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET.
