Brittany Snow reveals she never wanted to be on reality TV.
In the November cover story with SELF magazine published on Thursday, Nov. 6, the 39-year-old actress opened up about how reality TV affected her marriage with her ex-husband, Tyler Stanaland.
“I think people forget that when I got married, I got married to a real estate agent. He wasn’t even in my business whatsoever. He was definitely not a reality star,” Snow explained.
Stanaland, 36, became a part of the Selling the OC original cast, which premiered in August 2022. The couple, who got married in March 2020, announced their separation in September 2022. Snow filed for divorce four months later.
The Hunting Wives star said when she tied the knot with Stanaland, “she did not sign up for” her life to be displayed for the world to see. Snow recalled watching the unraveling of her marriage play out on her TV screen for all to see.

“It felt like it was a running snowball that I couldn’t catch,” Snow said. “I didn’t know what the heck was going on because it was so public and I couldn’t control it.”
“I know the truth… That’s all that matters,” she added.
After Snow and Stanaland announced their separation, fans of the reality show speculated infidelity as the cause. When Snow filed for divorce, she cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their breakup.
Though Stanaland denied he cheated on Snow, PEOPLE reported a Selling the OC costar attempted to kiss him off-camera the same day the then-couple announced their separation.
A source said Stanaland being on the show and having their lives turned into a storyline “broke them.” They added, “They had issues before, but this is the final straw.”
When asked about her divorce on her episode on Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy, Snow said, “I will say what people think happened, happened.”
For Snow, the divorce was so painful it was hard for her to eat. To pick herself back up, Snow told SELF she started talking to herself “like someone I loved. And then I just never stopped doing that.”
“I’d be like, ‘Okay, baby girl, do you want a bagel? Let’s get you a bagel. We’re going to toast it. We’re going to put some cream cheese on it. Is that all you can eat? Okay, that’s okay.’”
