Brooke Burke is opening up about her wedding plans with fiancé Scott Rigsby!
It has been over three years since the TV personality, 53, and Rigsby, 57, got engaged, and the couple still has not picked a wedding date — until now. Well, sort of.
Burke has a date in mind, just not a year, she revealed to PEOPLE at Operation Smile Fiesta on Tuesday, June 3. Hosted at Los Angeles’ Candela La Brea, the star-studded gala is held annually by the medical nonprofit, which specializes in cleft surgery and care, and providing healthcare to children in need, according to its website.
“I’ll give you a little top secret. Wait, should I or should I not?” the TV personality questioned out loud before divulging her unique idea for a wedding date.
“I had a really weird wish — because I’m a little bit weird — to get married on 5/28, which is the frequency of love,” the star told PEOPLE, referring to 528 Hz, which some believe to be the love frequency. She is fond of the date, she added, “because I’m into sound baths.”
But given her busy schedule, Burke said, it’s been a hard date to nail down. “It comes and goes every year. The fires, the floods, the kids, the graduations, building a home,” she said. “So 5/28, we missed it, but I’m working on it. We gotta do it next year.”
Still, nothing’s set in stone. When asked if May 28, 2024 is definitely going to be the date, she told PEOPLE, “I mean, if I don’t get a turn in the pecking order of my priorities, I’m failing. No, we’re working on it. I’m slow. You know I’m slow.”
Also at the gala — which Burke spoke at, and attended with Rigsby and daughter Sierra Sky Fisher, who she shares with ex Garth Fisher — the TV personality revealed her wedding must-have.
When asked what’s essential for her nuptials — besides family — Burke said, “Authenticity. Doing something sacred and really honoring love and actually sharing the fact that love is possible at any stage of your life. And I’m a romantic, so I believe in love.”
“So it’s got to be big,” she added. “That’s why it hasn’t happened yet.”
“And,” Burke added, “we want to do something different and innovative and show people how to make a difference. But it’s not just about writing checks, it’s about having fun, telling your story, living out loud, participating. Generational philanthropy. Nobody’s talking about that.”
Burke “didn’t grow up with that,” she continued. “So I’m going to show my kids how to step up to show their kids how to step up. And I’m on that. They have a lot of pressure.”
As for whether her children will be in the wedding party, the star told PEOPLE, “I’m too old to be a bride, to be like, ‘Bridesmaids!’ but yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.”
Along with Sierra, Burke shares daughter Neriah with Fisher. She also shares daughter Rain and son Shaya with ex-husband David Charvet. Her “beautiful blended family,” as she previously described it to PEOPLE, is rounded out by Rigsby’s two kids, Lila and Levi.

Last summer, Burke, who went red carpet official with Rigsby in November 2019, gave similar reasoning for why the couple has yet to set a wedding date: They’re just busy.
At the time, Rigsby also told PEOPLE that the pair are hoping for the ceremony to be extra special — which is why they have decided not to rush things.
“I think for us, it’s having the experience. I mean, the whole reason to do it, too, is for the kids and for us and the family. So we want to do it right. We just don’t want to rush into it,” he said, before Burke chimed in to add, “Yeah, I’m not rushing.”
