- Steven Oleksy defended his wife Brooke Hogan in a lengthy statement on Instagram on March 29, amid Brooke’s public feud with mom Linda Hogan.
- In the statement, the former NHL player denied several of Linda’s claims, including her claims about Brooke’s drunken behavior and that the couple excluded Linda from their 2022 wedding. He also shared several stories demonstrating Brooke’s character and why her relationship with her mother is now strained.
- Oleksy’s post follows Brooke’s claims that she experienced childhood abuse and Linda’s claim that Brooke is a “narcissist,” among others.
Steven Oleksy is defending his wife’s character.
Amid Brooke Hogan’s public war of words with mom Linda Hogan — sparked by the ex-wife of Hulk Hogan’s March 26 claim that she hasn’t seen Brooke in almost eight years — the former NHL player, 39, shared a message of support on Instagram in defense of his wife.
The lengthy statement, posted on Saturday, March 29, addressed many of Linda’s claims, including her allegations that Brooke, 36, once broke her mom’s collarbone while drunk and that the interior designer is a “narcissist just like her dad.” Oleksy — who welcomed twins with Brooke in January — also denied his 65-year-old mother-in-law’s claims that they had never met.
A rep for Linda did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment on March 29.
Oleksy kicked off the post by writing that “while there is little need to defend the character of my wife or myself, I feel compelled to acknowledge and validate the outpouring of support we’ve received over the past few days.”
Referring to his wife’s response to Linda’s initial comments about their estranged relationship — in which Brooke claimed that she was “verbally and mentally abused since childhood” — Oleksy continued, “My wife’s post was not a plea for attention, sympathy or even support.”
“It was simply a response to the false claims that had been made about her — that she hadn’t seen or spoken to her mother in eight years, that her mother had never met me, that we did not attend her father’s wedding because of work, and a number of other things that fall well short of the truth,” he then wrote, in part. “I cannot stand by and allow anyone to continue to hurt not only the most amazing person I am fortunate enough to call my wife, but also the distorted sense of power and relevance the media can sometimes grant individuals.”
“The support we’ve received and the people we are fortunate to have around us are a testament to who we are as a married couple,” the athlete continued. “We are surrounded by an incredible family, both by blood and through the strong network of friends and supporters who stand by us.”
Oleksy did not mention Linda by name, instead attributing the allegations he addressed to a “Jane Doe” — or simply “this individual” — but went on to slam Linda’s claim that she has “many stories” about Brooke’s alleged drunken behavior.
“The claim that my wife broke ‘Jane Doe’s’ collarbone was laughable to those who know the truth,” he wrote. “I myself have only had one sip of alcohol in my life, and that was to celebrate a Stanley Cup championship victory at the age of 32. My wife will have the occasional cocktail or glass of wine, but neither of us has ever used drugs or any other substance that may alter reality.”
“So, it should be understood that the suggestion that my wife is a party girl or drunk comes shortly after the assertion that I had never met ‘Jane Doe’ and that she didn’t know my name — despite the fact that we had sat at the same lunch table and even took a picture together,” the former hockey player continued.

He then addressed Linda’s claims that Brooke did not inform her mom of her 2022 wedding to Oleksy, writing that it “was never our intention.” (Linda also claimed that the couple did not tell her about the birth of their 2-month-old twins, Oliver Andrew and Molly Gene.)
“Unfortunately, it was the only viable option when another party involved said, ‘I don’t do weddings or funerals anymore,’ which is perplexing, considering that same person has attended multiple weddings since then, and even had a wedding of their own,” Oleksy wrote.
Brooke’s husband went on to share instances highlighting who she “is at her core” — for those who “may still have doubts” about his wife’s character,
In one, the “individual” refused to attend a Stevie Nicks concert with Brooke, allegedly by making a false claim that she does not attend concerts anymore. In another “heartbreaking” moment, Brooke renovated and designed a home for the “individual” for free, hoping only to watch a sunset together, which they subsequently refused to do.
“My wife, understanding the value of time and love over anything material, made a final, resolute decision. She asked to be removed from all future financial involvement, requesting her release from documents that had her in a substantial fiduciary and financial position once certain events transpired,” Oleksy wrote. “She said to me, ‘If I can’t have honesty and time with them, I don’t want anything.’ ”
The father of two went on to praise Brooke further, writing that he has “had the privilege of witnessing my wife go from humbling herself to wait tables” to “building one of the most successful interior design firms in Nashville, entirely on her own, from the ground up, without any guidance or financial backing.”
“She gives everything she has in all that she does, often leaving her own cup empty,” he then wrote of Brooke. “Her actions are never driven by financial gain or a desire for others to fill her cup, but rather by a relentless commitment to doing the right thing for the right reasons. She is the truest, most genuine person many have ever met and loves hard, almost to a fault. When you love so hard, the more it hurts.”
Oleksy concluded his March 29 statement by thanking those who have sent the couple messages of support. “If we could, we would hug each and every one of you,” he wrote. “Keep spreading peace✌️, love ❤️ and positivity.”
As Oleksy shared his lengthy defense of Brooke’s character, the interior designer appeared unbothered in a new Instagram post of her own. Alongside photos of herself, Oleksy and their twins, Brooke simply wrote, “Back to R E A L I T Y. 🩷.”
Linda first sparked the feud with her daughter after alleging in a tearful video that her retired WWE star ex-husband (she and Hulk were married from 1983 to 2009) is a “sex addict” and “liar,” and that the exes’ family — except her relationship with son Nick, 34 — is “the worst mess.”
In response, Brooke shared a statement alleging childhood abuse, but insisted she “absolutely” still loved her parents.
Linda subsequently denied the allegations in a lengthy Facebook post, in which she wrote that she is “not gonna defend myself against these ridiculous allegations” but will “do that in court if [Brooke] keeps it up.”
