  • The group discusses the cultural significance of ARIRANG and reflects on returning to their roots while reaching global fans

It's the long-awaited reunion of Jimmy and Jimin! And RM and Jin and SUGA and j-hope and V and Jung Kook.

On Wednesday night's episode of The Tonight Show, host Jimmy Fallon jokes with his almost-name twin and his fellow members of BTS as they catch up after more than four years and celebrate the release of the group's new album, ARIRANG.

BTS will be appearing on the show for two nights this week— Wednesday, March 25 and Thursday, March 26 — and sharing a pair of performances filmed inside New York's Guggenheim Museum. The first, their current single "SWIM," airs Wednesday, and the second, "2.0" will air as part of Thursday's episode.

The septet, who have been regulars on the Tonight Show over the years, previously pulled off an epic performance of "ON" in Grand Central Station and a sketch on an N.Y.C. subway train. Wednesday's interview may take place on a stationary sofa, but still promises plenty of shenanigans as well as some heartfelt moments with the studio audience filled with ARMY (as BTS's fans are known).

The members first make their appearance while donning house slippers, the customary footwear when in a home in Korea, and introduce Fallon to the joys of inside shoes. Their song "Aliens," off ARIRANG, even gives a nod to the respectful practice. "If you wanna hit my house, shoes off at the door, yeah we aliens," Jung Kook sings.

They're also comically made to compliment one another when Fallon asks them to say what they missed about the member to their right while they were apart completing South Korea's mandatory military service, before getting a bit more serious. They dig into the messages they imbued in this album, which is named after the Korean folk song "Arirang," a deeply meaningful cultural touchpoint in the country, and what it means to them to go back to their roots while also making music for a global audience.

Of course they also took the time to bust a few moves, breakdown Fallon's favorite tracks, and surprise some lucky fans in a very unexpected way,
