A new viral clip showcasing the popularity of Paris proposals along the Seine River has sparked an online debate.
The TikTok video, reshared by Barstool Sports, showed five elaborate proposals happening just feet apart along one portion of the Seine River in Paris — all with various lights, backdrops and flower arches.
The video first focuses on a couple who got engaged in front of a red heart-shaped flower arch. A red carpet and candles could be seen surrounding the couple.
The clip then panned to show another couple a few feet away who had a white engagement theme. They had a white walkway leading up to large, lit-up words that spelled out “Marry me.” They also had candles and flower petals strewn around the setup.
The video then moves slightly to show another proposal happening a few steps away in front of another red flower arch in the shape of a heart. Hanging from the arch were the words, “Marry me?” lit up with lights.
Further down in the video, at least two more proposal spots could be seen set up, including another area set up with the words, “Marry me,” and a flower arch. A woman who seemingly just got engaged could be seen taking photos there with a bouquet in hand as her husband stood behind her.
“What’s your biggest fear? Probably a proposal in Paris — especially there,” the person wrote over the video, noting the popular proposal spot as scary music could also be heard in the background.
Barstool Sports reposted the video with the caption, “Looks like everyone proposes here in Paris 😅.” The clip garnered over 40 million views, nearly 13,000 likes and dozens of comments from people who were torn about whether it was cute or cringe.

Other people in the comments shared their sentiments, including one person who wrote, “Omg. The first one is my brother and his wife. Why just why?” Another commenter called it an “industrial proposal.”
However, some people thought that the scene was sweet, including one person who said, “Paris proposals are so extra. I stan.” Someone else chimed in that the couple’s “photos will be amazing.”
Another wrote, “I’d rather this than the way my husband proposed in the driveway of my parents beside a garbage can 😅.”
