Carl Radke and ex-fiancée Lindsay Hubbard were able to remain cordial for the latest season of Summer House.
Carl, 40, joined costars Kyle Cooke, Jesse Solomon and West Wilson for a live Q&A hosted by Dave Quinn at PEOPLE’s New York office on Wednesday, Feb. 12, where they spoke about the series’ upcoming ninth season.
Carl, Kyle and West discussed what it was like to film with Lindsay as she navigated her pregnancy while in the Hamptons house. Carl and Lindsay were previously engaged, but Carl called off the engagement in September 2023.
After the original Summer House stars split, Lindsay began a new relationship and, in July 2024, revealed she was pregnant — which also coincided with the beginning of filming season 9. Lindsay welcomed her baby girl, Gemma, in early December.
At the Wednesday Q&A, the group was asked about filming with a pregnant Lindsay. Kyle, 42, said that Lindsay arrived to the house “almost a totally different person and she had a new purpose.”
“I think she’s talked about wanting to be a mom for a long time,” Kyle said. “She just seemed incredibly happy. She literally had the pregnancy glow and she was quite pleasant to be around.”
West, 30, added that he “found her really enjoyable this summer.”
Meanwhile, Carl explained that “it was really nice to see her get along with everybody.”
“Everybody’s having a good time with her. She was much happier and it made me happy seeing her happy,” he said, before revealing that there were still moments when Lindsay didn’t see “eye to eye” with him or their costars.
“Jesse has a Shabbat dinner that he hosted, and it’ll be a pretty epic fight between me and Lindsay, just verbal,” he said. “There’s no yelling and screaming. It’s just back and forth, back and forth.”
Carl shared that he first learned of Lindsay’s pregnancy from Kyle and his wife Amanda Batula, before filming the first weekend. “There was a lot bubbling up,” he said. “But it wasn’t my business. [I] just was happy for her once I heard.”
He revealed that it took him “a little bit to kind of process” that Lindsay was pregnant. “I was happy for her, but I was surprised a little bit.”
“But I had a friend tell me, he’s like, ‘Dude, this is great closure.’ And I agreed with that and it took me some time,” he said. “But filming with her all summer, it actually was good and healthy to see her, and we were cordial, we were able to get along.”
“I was happy for her, and for me, it was kind of like, ‘Okay, she’s moved on and she’s happy and that’s all that really matters,’ ” he added.
Carl’s comments follow the former couple’s shared history on the reality show, which began when they met filming season 1 in 2016. They decided to pursue a romantic relationship in 2021, and Carl proposed to Lindsay in August 2022. Just over a year later, Carl announced that he and Lindsay were canceling their wedding and engagement.
Following their split, Lindsay and boyfriend Turner Kufe got pregnant only a few months into their relationship.
