Carly Pierce Responds to Kelsea Ballerini’s Wig Video: ‘I Feel Called Out’

Carly Pierce and Kelsea Ballerini have a lot more in common than being 30-something country singers!

On Friday, May 2, the 35-year-old “Truck on Fire” singer shared a video of herself in full glam with a surprising end.

Though the thumbnail began with Pierce sitting in the bathroom with her hair and makeup perfectly done, it then showed a millisecond of footage previously shared by Ballerini, 31, as she removed her wig.

“This Is the Life” by Miley Cyrus’ Disney character Hannah Montana played briefly in the intro after Ballerini likened herself to the actress in an April 17 TikTok.

“My sweet friend Kelsea posted a two-minute video where she very delicately, very professionally, very correctly, very gracefully, takes her wig off,” Pierce explained in her Instagram post.

The “We Don’t Fight Anymore” singer added, “And I feel called out.”

“I feel like I’m clearly not doing it right because this is how long it takes me to take my wig off,” Pierce said, lifting the blonde tresses and swiftly grabbing the entire hairpiece off as she tossed it away.

After her super fast removal, which revealed no wig cap and a much shorter cut, she sat with a comedic blank stare to deliver her point before reaching for her phone to cut her camera off.

“You can take the girl out of Kentucky, but you can’t take Kentucky out of the girl 😂,” Pierce captioned the post, tagging her fellow country star.

“WAIT A DAMN MINUTE,” one surprised fan commented. Another added, “[Work] smarter not harder!!! Love it!”

The video also intrigued peers, such as “Getting Good” singer Lauren Alaina, who wrote, “I just laughed out loud.”

Ballerini also joined in, adding, “HAHAHAHAH I LOVE YOU.”

In the CMA winner’s April TikTok, she carefully had someone apply a Q-tip doused in a substance to help loosen the hair-bonding adhesive, removing the extra hair.

“Protected my hair, felt like Hannah Montana, and got the after-show nickname Rufus,” she captioned her post, adding, “last night of tour shed 🫠.”

The singer previously opened up about her decision to cut and care for her hair.

While partnering with Pantene, Ballerini told PEOPLE in January 2024 that if her hair could talk, it would tell her, “I’m glad you cut a lot of inches off about a year ago. For a lot of reasons.”

“I really put my hair through it. I have for a decade,” she said. “I’m doing all the things. And it needed a little attention. She was like, ‘Me, my turn.’ I was like, ‘Fair enough.’ ”
