In the Sex and the City movie, Carrie Bradshaw was gifted her dream Vivienne Westwood wedding gown for free. One lucky bargain hunter got the next best thing when she unearthed another standout bridal dress from the film at a Goodwill for $18.99.
Ashley Cano, who often thrifts pieces and sells them on Poshmark, shared her find via TikTok, which appears to be the Vera Wang dress that Bradshaw (played by Sarah Jessica Parker) wore during her bridal-themed Vogue photoshoot before her (almost) wedding to Mr. Big.
“Vera freaking Wang,” Cano said in the now-viral TikTok video, posted on Wednesday, February 26. “I cannot believe that I found this dress at Goodwill for $18.99. It is Vera Wang. It is the Carrie Bradshaw dress. I’m shook.”
While Cano is a frequent thrifter, she was stunned to find a Vera Wang wedding dress, which is considered the holy grail in the world of bridal, let alone an iconic Sex and the City-famous style.

In the movie, Bradshaw models the drop-waist strapless ‘Eleanor’ gown on a chaise lounge so that the camera could capture the dramatic tulle-flower embroidered skirt, which the designer created to give it an “artistic back sweep,” according to Wang’s lookbook.
However, Cano expressed anxiety when considering the best way to list the dress for sale — which has yet to go live in her Postmark shop — particularly since she’s never sold a bridal gown.
“I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw this dress,” she wrote in the caption. “But I fear I may have bit off more than I can chew. It’s so big, so heavy. And I have no clue how to best sell it.”
Other TikTokers were just as gobsmacked as Cano was with her unexpected find. “I immediately thought of Carrie Bradshaw before you said a word,” one user wrote. “Amazing score!!!” added another. Some, including a few brides, asked how much she planned to sell the dress for.
“I’m not trying to make a crazy amount from it,” Cano responded to inquiries. “Definitely want to spread the love and bless a bride. I’d say somewhere between 15 to 20 [percent] of retail.”
Even if Cano settled on a small percentage, she’d likely still net a sizable profit. The same dress is currently listed on other resale sites, including Poshmark, for $5,000; however, others have marked it down from what appears to be its original retail price: $7,500, which adds to its value.
Cano, who is currently undergoing a divorce, added that the money she makes from the sale will likely go toward her legal fees. “Lowkey [have] been stressing over my lawyer bills. I needed a blessing. Didn’t think it would come in the way of a wedding dress, but I’m not complaining.”
Brides-to-be, however, are likely ready for a bidding war. Considering Bradshaw ultimately tied the knot in a white suit she, too, found at a thrift shop — getting your dream Sex and the City dress secondhand would make for the most authentic real-life Carrie Bradshaw bridal moment.
