Carrie Underwood was the master of the quick change on New Year’s Eve!
The country singer, 41, wore three different sparkly and sequined looks as she performed a medley of her hit songs on ABC’s Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve with Ryan Seacrest on Tuesday, Dec. 31. Underwood appeared to achieve her fashion hat trick by shedding layers in between her songs.
At first, she took the stage wearing a glittering black and gold robe with shimmering fringe as she sang “Church Bells” while strumming along on a matching guitar.
From there, she ditched the robe for a feathered, tinsel-esque hot pink jacket worn over a sparkly silver pantsuit.
The brighter look paired nicely with her second song of the night: “Pink Champagne.” Fittingly, the Grammy-winner performed the song while perched in an oversized champagne glass.
Finally, Underwood ditched the pink jacket to reveal the full sleek silver sequined pantsuit, which she wore as she belted out her 2005 hit “Before He Cheats.”
Underwood — who is set to soon be a judge on American Idol 20 years after winning the title herself — also shared that she’s experiencing some nerves as she returns to the ABC competition series in a new role.
When host Seacrest asked if she preferred “being a contestant or a judge” on American Idol, she replied, “Oh man, I mean nerves with both.”
She continued, “One I was living out my dream, you know, just hoping for anything, just a fraction of this right here, but now I get to be on the other side of it, and I’m still nervous. I’m nervous for them, but I’m also really excited.”
