Welcome to The Blueprint, where we break down the celebrity looks we want to wear right now and build them back up, piece by piece.
Catherine Zeta-Jones has brought Morticia Addams to life off-screen in the form of gothic-inspired outfits while doing press for season two of Wednesday. The main theme being black-on-black (just like the poised Morticia), but she recently traded the shade for a burgundy matching set that had us entranced.
Instead of an athleisure ensemble, the Chicago star reimagined matching sets with a monochrome outfit featuring a deep shade of red we expect to see everywhere this fall. The full ensemble consisted of a loose button-up shirt, cropped pants, ankle booties, and a statement-making sequin jacket that pulled the look together. Siliteelon Wrinkle-Free Button-Up Top
This button-up top looks practically identical to Zeta-Jones’, from the deep wine-red shade to the tailored fit. It’s made with a wrinkle-free material so you don’t have to set aside ironing time in the morning, and is versatile enough to wear with matching trousers like the actress, or a pair of jeans for a more laid-back look. One shopper applauded how it “looks like a cotton button-down, but it’s softer and still holds a shape.”
Tsful Wide-Leg Pants
Instead of joggers or sweats, the actress paired her top with matching cropped pants for a more elegant look. These burgundy pants have a similar wide-leg fit that’s billowy and loose, so you can move more freely than you would in body-forming skinny jeans. One reviewer liked how the pants are “business casual but comfortable.” They’re also petite-friendly, according to a 5-foot shopper who wrote they “didn’t need to shorten” the bottoms.
Kancy Kole Sequin Jacket, $49 in cart
What sets Zeta-Jones’ matching set apart from other monochrome outfits is her sparkly outer layer. This sequin blazer has the same shimmery characteristics with a more tailored look. It can act as a light layer for holiday parties or even concerts with friends — especially since there are two front pockets you can use to store your phone and lip gloss. One reviewer also pointed out that “none of the sequins scratched” their skin while wearing it.
Madewell The Dimes Kitten-Heel Boot
I own a pair of these boots and wore them on repeat last fall. The sleek leather instantly dressed up a pair of jeans and gave my outfits a more high-fashion look. I appreciated how the kitten heel gave me a slight height boost without making me worry about tripping. They’re also comfortable straight out of the box — I worked an eight-hour day in them and ran around New York City without any foot pain or blisters.
