The cause of death of a 28-year-old Las Vegas woman who traveled to Miami for plastic surgery has been revealed, according to reports.

On March 5, Ahmonique Miller traveled to Miami to undergo cosmetic surgery. She died at an unlicensed surgical recovery house at 10:26 p.m. on March 7, after allegedly being given unprescribed medication following the procedure earlier that day, NBC 6 South Florida reported, citing Miami Police.

The 28-year-old reportedly traveled with her sister Kiera Barnes, and the pair planned to get cosmetic procedures together at Avana Plastic Surgery. Miller had a Brazilian butt lift (BBL), a procedure where fat is transferred from other areas of the body to the buttocks, and liposuction, per NBC 6 South Florida and Daily Mail.

According to the Daily Mail, Miller stayed with her sister at Keyla’s Recovery House following the procedure. Barnes later awoke to find her sister “cold and still in the same position as when they fell asleep.”

According to a Miami Police incident report reviewed by PEOPLE, Miller was “put to bed for rest” between 12:00 p.m. and 1 p.m. and “at approximately 9:30 p.m., concerns were raised that Miller had not woken up, so staff checked on her.” On finding her “unresponsive,” they called 911.

The police report adds that on arrival at the scene, which they identify as “an illegal post-plastic-surgery recovery home,” police found the victim “exhibiting signs of rigor mortis,” while “heavily bandaged” and lying “face down” on a bed. The report confirms her time of death as 10:26 p.m. The report also names the location as a facility “operating under the name Keyla’s Service.”

The Miami-Dade Medical Examiner’s office confirmed the cause of death as acute combined drug toxicity, per NBC 6 South Florida. A mix of the prescription painkiller oxycodone and bromazolam, which is a “potent designer…[drug] commonly found in counterfeit pills or powders,” was found in her system, according to the outlet.

The medical examiner’s office report states that “the use of these drugs in the hours following [Ahmonique’s] procedure are responsible for the fatal outcome,” per NBC 6 South Florida. The report noted that the combined use of the two drugs “impacts breathing and increases risk of death during sleep.”

According to a preliminary police investigation report, the owner of the recovery house, Keyla Oliver, told investigators she gave Miller two Percocet and that she “did not have a license to practice medicine,” per the outlet.

Barnes reportedly told police that Oliver gave Miller “an unknown number of muscle relaxers from Kiera’s prescription” and two Percocets from an “unlabeled pill bottle” after her sister’s “medication wasn’t ready” at the time.

Miller leaves behind a one-year-old daughter, according to NBC 6 South Florida.

“My daughter’s supposed to be here with her daughter and unfortunately, she’s not,” Miller’s mother told NBC 6 South Florida in April. “I have to remind myself every day that this is real … Ahmonique is not coming back.”

“I never thought that I would be, putting together obituaries for my daughter, for my child. She was smart, extremely smart. She was beautiful…Just a big loss,” she added.

PEOPLE has reached out to Keyla’s Recovery House and Miami-Dade Medical Examiner’s office for comment, but did not immediately hear back.
