Good taste must be genetic, because these celebrity daughters can’t stop raiding their stylish moms’ closets. Fashion-forward moms like Heidi Klum, Lisa Rinna and Victoria Beckham are passing on archived staples to their all-grown-up girls. (And on the flip side, stylish daughters like Blake Lively and Bella Hadid are paying it forward and opening their closets to the women to whom they owe it all.)

Catherine Zeta-Jones & Carys Zeta Douglas
Twenty years ago, Catherine Zeta-Jones stepped out to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony wearing a little black dress with floral appliqué. And in October 2025, her daughter emulated mom’s rosy glow and undone hair in the same dress at the PAC NYC Icons of Culture Gala alongside dad Michael Douglas.
And Carys is certainly embracing shopping her mom’s previous red carpet picks — even to the point of possibly overdoing it.
“I feel I love vintage clothes. don’t really like to buy. I’m not really into fast fashion stuff, just for sustainability reasons, so I feel very lucky that I have a wonderful closet that I can pick from,” she told PEOPLE at the event, adding with a laugh, “[My mom] is like, ‘Is that my bag?’ I’m like, ‘I don’t know. I don’t think so.’ ”
Susan Sarandon & Eva Amurri
The early ’00s are back, and Eva Amurri is making the most of it by borrowing a sheer Donna Karan gown her mom Susan Sarandon wore to the Oscars in 2003 to wear to the opening night gala for the Metropolitan Opera in September 2024. After Eva posted a TikTok of herself shopping her mom’s closet last year, it was only a matter of time before some of the best of Sarandon’s archives got a new life on the red carpet.
Jessica Alba & Haven Warren
As if it wasn’t fun enough that Jessica Alba brought her two daughters (including Haven, 12) to the premiere of her new film Trigger Warning, she also let them shop her archives for the event.
Throwing it back all the way to ‘07 and ‘10 in the sweetest way ever 🥹,” she wrote on Instagram. “…Havie wore my @dolcegabbana dress from Comicon for Good Luck Chuck in 2010 🖤.”
Speaking to PEOPLE in Sept. 2024, Alba explained how the girls ended up in her clothes.
“It was my idea, because I didn’t want to go and get them a dress for one night, you know? I was like, ‘Would you guys wear these dresses? I picked them out. I think they would look really cute on you, but I mean, if you don’t like them [it’s okay]’,” she recalled. “I think they both thought that they wore it better — which, by the way, they did. True story.”

At the same event, Honor, 16, sported a checked A-line Prada number previously seen on her mom in 2007 at the Valentine’s Day premiere.
“I loooove seeing my girls wear some of my archived pieces and adding their own touch 🫶🏽 #FashionFriday,” Alba wrote.
Busy Philipps & Birdie Silverstein
Busy Philipps may have purged a ton in her post-divorce garage sale, but luckily for daughter Birdie, she held onto this killer Betsey Johnson dress from the ’90s — and Birdie then got to wear the vintage piece to an Olivia Rodrigo concert years later.

When one of Gwyneth Paltrow’s Instagram followers asked, “Does Apple ever wear any of your fashion archives?” she let photographic evidence speak for itself. The Goop founder posted a snap of her 19-year-old wearing the iconic Alexander McQueen gown Paltrow wore to the Academy Awards in 2002.

The mother-daughter pair stunned in complementary red looks at the 2023 Oscars, but one detail in particular made the style moment even more special: The 15-year-old was wearing her mom’s Isaac Mizrahi gown that she originally wore years before her daughter was even born, in 1997.

The perks of having a fashion designer for a mom: Getting to shop her closet before you even hit high school! Harper was snapped on vacation with her family in Italy in 2021 wearing what appeared to be the lace-trimmed orchid dress from the Victoria Beckham line that her mom wore on Instagram the month before.
Brooke Shields & Rowan Henchy
Golden girls! The actress dug out the strapless scarlet dress she wore to the 1998 Golden Globes so her daughter could wear it to prom in 2021.
“I thought it was a special night when I was nominated for a Golden Globe and wore this dress in 1998, but nothing could have prepared me to see my daughter wearing it to her prom,” Shields captioned the Instagram.

In 2020, Ava Sambora (left) shared photos of herself wearing her mom’s old Bon Jovi shirt, captioning them in an Instagram post, “I got it from my mama (Like I literally got this shirt from my mom’s closet 🤪).”
The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree! Ava — whose dad is Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora — also shared a shot of Locklear clad in the same top from 20 years ago in her post.
