Chance the Rapper is hitting the road!

The three-time Grammy winner announced on Monday, Aug. 11, that he’s going on tour for his upcoming album, Star Line, which drops on Friday, Aug. 15. Tickets for the And We Back Tour will go on sale on Tuesday, Aug. 12.

The 32-year-old musician (full name Chancelor Johnathan Bennett) will be performing in 15 cities across North America, kicking off in Houston on Friday, Sept. 26. He will also make stops in New Orleans, Toronto, New York City, Los Angeles, his hometown of Chicago and many more.

Star Line is Chance the Rapper’s first album since 2019’sThe Big Day, and it “reflects Chance’s global journey, artistically, spiritually, and physically, over the past six years,” per the official press release.“Star Line blends hip-hop, soul, and experimental sounds with lyrical meditations on identity, resilience, and legacy.”

“While Chance has circled the globe in search of new perspectives, ‘Star Line’ remains grounded in the worldview that has always defined Chance’s art: a deep, unshakable connection to Chicago and to Black culture across the diaspora.”

Chance, Lil Wayne and Smino collaborated on the album’s lead single, “Tree,” on Thursday, July 3, after releasing the song at Lyrical Lemonade Smash in Bridgeview, Ill. on Sunday, June 22.

“Within the context of the album, [Tree is] a really important song,” Chance recently told Rolling Stone.

“Because obviously, on the surface, it’s a weed song. But really, it’s about the inequities of the cannabis industry and using that as a metaphor, overall, for the inequities in agriculture,” he explained. “Black folks don’t really own any means of production in a lot of industries, but Black farmers have always had it the toughest in America… The song, for me, was very expressive and very uncensored, but still fun, still inclusive.”

He also told the outlet that the new album incorporates what he’s experienced from his divorce from Kirsten Corley to traveling around the globe since The Big Day.

“Going to Ghana, reconnecting with a lot of my family, going through relationships changing, getting divorced — there’s a lot of things that happened between my last project and this day,” he said.

“There’s a lot of other regions sounds,” Chance noted of the new album’s sound. “I think the sounds, production-wise, if they’re not super experimental, they’re based in some of the Black music that was influential to me throughout my childhood or through my travels.”
