Charli XCX brought an explosion of neon green — and the stars out — for her headline show at London’s LIDO Festival on Saturday, June 14.
As well as curating the festival’s Saturday lineup with collaborators from her viral Brat remix album, the British pop star took the stage for a frenetic, often chaotic, but always entertaining showcase of her biggest hits.
The headline show marked a homecoming of sorts for Charli, 32, who grew up in Essex, just a short distance from East London’s Victoria Park, the site of Saturday’s festival. The mood was celebratory as fans donned neon green outfits in tribute to the hometown girl, and it was clear from the frenzy in the audience that Charli had made it: she was now a bona fide headline act after years of supporting slots at similar festivals.
Kicking off the night’s party vibes with the remix to “365,” the songstress reeled off an array of hits from her infectious Grammy-winning album, Brat, including “Von Dutch” and the popular “Girl, So Confusing” remix. She also paid homage to her pre-Brat eras with renditions of “I Love It,” the Icona Pop collaboration that arguably first put her on the map in 2012, and “Speed Drive.”

As expected for a day of festivities curated by the OG 365 party girl, Charli had at least one of her Brat collaborators join her on stage. Swedish singer and rapper Bladee performed the “Rewind” remix with Charli after his own earlier headline slot on the secondary stage.
Of course, there was much speculation about who would be Charli’s “Apple girl” after stars including Chappell Roan and Blackpink’s Rosé performed her viral “Apple” dance at previous Brat shows. This time, the honor went to Amelia Dimoldenberg, the host of the popular YouTube show Chicken Shop Date.
Charli’s set was also a hotbed for celebrity spotting: Paul Mescal and Harris Dickinson, the Irish actor’s costar in the upcoming Beatles biopics, were seen embracing their inner party girls among the fevered crowd. The jury’s still out on whether Mescal is so Julia, however.
