Christina Haack may not have been single for long following her split from Josh Hall — but she made sure to have a little fun on The Flip Off set while she was!
The HGTV star, 41, leaned into her newly-single status in episode two of the series (airing Feb. 5 at 8PM) by playing a little joke on the paparazzi with her Flip Off co-star and friend, contractor Michael Lange.
The two were working on the primary suite of the property they’re transforming for the show — which also stars Christina’s first husband Tarek El Moussa and his new wife Heather — when the idea was born.
As they’re reviewing the space, Christina expresses concern that she no longer has access to a “cheap” flooring guy that her estranged third husband, Josh Hall, had promised to provide for the project.
In response, Lange, who has taken on much of Josh’s former role on the show, promises, “I’ll take care of you.” He adds, “And always be leery anytime anybody says ‘cheap.’ Those were a lot of flags for me. Every time I heard that word ‘cheap,’ I’m like… okay.”
Agreeing with her contractor, Christina says, “We need to win this one,” to which Lange quips back, “You’re always winning in my world.“
Christina then grabs his hand and keeps the banter going by asking, “You want to go grab a drink and pretend that we’re together? Give the paparazzi something to shoot at?”
“I would love to do that,” he responds as the two continue holding hands and swinging their arms as they head out the front door.
Lange has previously made a handful of appearances on Christina’s social media, including a cozy snap that she shared on Instagram in December.
In the shot, the two are smiling big as they pose with their arms around one another at a garden center. “Putting in the work!” Christina captioned the post, while tagging Lange’s Instagram handle, @capo_a_general.
Before that, Christina also referred to Lange as a “good” man on her Instagram Stories after he helped her set up her massive Christmas tree.
Lange first linked up with Christina for a project with HGTV at the end of 2023. He’s also one of the general contractors who works on her solo show, Christina on the Coast, and is involved with Christina’s design company, Christina & Kylie, that she launched with designer Kylie Wing in 2024.
Along with Lange, Wing is also one of Christina’s partners on The Flip Off.

Christina’s playful scene with Lange was filmed before PEOPLE confirmed she was in a relationship with businessman Christopher Larocca on Jan. 11.
Since then, the two were spotted together at Los Angeles International Airport before they jetted off on a romantic Paris getaway where Christina ended up soft-launching her new man. Later in January, the couple were seen sharing a kiss while out on a date night in Brentwood.
News of Christina’s new romance came nearly six months after she and Josh called it quits, though they may have been dating as early as October 2024, based on photos obtained by Daily Mail that allegedly show the pair on vacation in Italy last fall.
The designer’s third husband filed for divorce in July 2024, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split. He also requested spousal support from the HGTV star.
