On Feb. 12, officers with the GPD responded to a report of a sexual assault "involving a staff member from Greeley-Evans School District 6 and a 13-year-old student," according to a news release.
The address of the home police responded to is the same block as the home where Meza was living, property records obtained by PEOPLE show.
Officers later identified the woman accused of sexual assault as Meza, and opened an investigation into the school employee.
Investigators allegedly determined that "Meza engaged in continuous sexual abuse of the minor for several months," the release claims.
However, once that investigation was completed and police went to arrest Meza on several felony charges, she was nowhere to be found.
Meza is now a wanted woman, and has been on the run since March 12.

Meanwhile, the principal at the school where Meza worked sent a letter to parents.
Dr. Suzette Luster noted that Meza was no longer employed as of Feb. 25, and said that police had informed her that Meza was allegedly likely no longer in the state.
She also said in the letter that Meza had been employed by the district since 2020 in a number of roles, including school secretary and cross-country coach, and had previously worked at the school as a substitute teacher.
Meza had been placed on administrative leave on Feb. 12, Luster also noted in the letter — the same day that police first learned about the alleged sexual assaults.
Anyone with information regarding the investigation of Brenda Meza is urged to contact Detective Austin Burckley of the Greeley Police Department, and anyone with information on Meza’s whereabouts is urged to contact their local law enforcement agency or Officer Zach Eberhard of the Greeley Police Department.
