Critics Choice Awards: Why Chelsea Handler Thanked Blake Lively, Justin Baldoni for the Distraction
Moeka Hoshi is a crybaby.
At least, that’s how she referred to herself while accepting the 2025 Critics Choice Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series during the Feb. 7 awards ceremony hosted by Chelsea Handler.
After hearing her name announced as the winner, the Shogun star—who was nominated alongside Allison Janney, Nicole Kidman, Skye P. Marshall, Anna Sawai and Fiona Shaw—strode onto stage in a floor-length red dress and matching cape with tears already flowing down her face.
“Thank you so much. Oh, my gosh, I’m crying,” Moeka began her speech. “I’m crying too much, sorry. I’m a crybaby.”
But the audience didn’t think she was overly emotional. In fact, they began cheering louder as she went into the rest of her speech where she introduced herself to her fellow attendees and said, “I came from Japan, nice to meet you.”
“Thank you to Critics Choice, and thank you to Shogun,” she continued. “Each and every one of the cast and crew, I’m standing here on your behalf. I love you guys. Thank you so much.”
