Dave Coulier received two pieces of life-changing news on the same day.
The Full House alum, who recently celebrated both becoming cancer-free and becoming a grandfather, revealed that both milestones occurred in quick succession.
The 65-year-old actor revealed the timing of both momentous occasions to his former costars, Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber, on the Friday, April 18, episode of their podcast, How Rude, Tanneritos!
He explained that he learned he was cancer-free from his stage 3 Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma on Wednesday, March 26, and added: “I got the good news the day the baby was born.”
“So I heard the news and I was so excited, and then Luc called us and he said, ‘Hey, the baby just was born.’ And so, I mean, it was an amazing day,” he recalled. “It was really amazing, you know?” Adding, “So we were like, ‘Oh, this is just too much!’ ”
Coulier’s son, Luc, 34, and his wife, Alex, welcomed their baby son, Chance Lee, on Thursday, March 27, per Parade. Coulier shares Luc with ex-wife Jayne Modean.
He told Sweetin, 43, and Barber, 48, that Chance is “healthy” and a “great little baby” who weighs 7 pounds, 6 ounces. He also said he’s going to meet his grandson later this month. Coulier is currently in Michigan, while his son’s family is in Sacramento.
On Monday, March 31, a representative for Coulier confirmed to PEOPLE that he was cancer-free. He first revealed his diagnosis exclusively to PEOPLE in November 2024.
At the time, he explained that an upper respiratory infection resulted in swelling of his lymph nodes, which led him to get tested and then eventually diagnosed in October 2024.
“This has been a really fast roller-coaster ride of a journey,” he said in November 2024. “I looked at how those words affected [my wife, Melissa] and I thought, ‘You know what? I’m going to be strong throughout this, not just for me, but I’m going to be strong for her.’ ”
He also noted at the time how much support he was getting from Melissa, as well as his son, Luc. Coulier said it was especially “tough” to tell his son Luc about his diagnosis because he was gearing up to welcome his baby boy with his wife.

“We all have choices in life,” he told PEOPLE in November. “You can laugh through the tough times and try and see the glass half full or you can go the opposite direction, which doesn’t really help anything. And so I made it — the choice was kind of made for me — you’re going to get through this, but you’re going to help some other people along the way.”
