The Tryst is a luxury boutique hotel catered toward gay world travelers, owned by entrepreneur Tristan Schukraft. “You can be who you want to be here without any judgment. And you’re going to meet likeminded people from the community,” says Schukraft, who has plans to open another location on New York’s Fire Island.

Lovato said in a statement that LGBTQ+ spaces like The Tryst “feel essential right now.”

“Knowing that there’s a space where you’re not only safe but celebrated means everything,” she said. “When we travel, we want to feel that we belong. Not just that we’re tolerated, but that we are genuinely welcomed. These places remind us that joy, community and chosen family are powerful.”

The star added, “Honestly, no one knows how to put a joyful celebration together like the queer community.”

Coolidge, another special guest for the festivities, agrees the LGBTQ+ community knows how to have a good time. The White Lotus star, 63, told PEOPLE during the red carpet that she has made a lot of new friends while checked in at The Tryst.

“I think gay men and gay women just let loose and have a blast — they know how to have a really fun time,” says Coolidge. “And they’re really original. I don’t know, just a superior group of people. I can’t get enough of this, frankly.”

The weekend-long festivities for The Tryst’s opening included performances by Vincint and Drag Race México host Taiga Brava as well as a DJ set by RuPaul’s Drag Race stars Gottmik and Violet Chachki on Thursday, April 24. Saturday, April 26, will showcase a drag brunch performance by Shea Couleé, followed by a pool party hosted by Erika Jayne.

Sharing a message to LGBTQ+ fans around the world, Lovato added in a statement, “Please know you are so deeply loved, seen and celebrated. Pride is about owning your truth and letting that truth shine unapologetically. You are worthy of joy, of safety and of love exactly as you are.”
