Demi Lovato Reveals Why Surprise Performance of Camp Rock Songs with Jonas Brothers Felt ‘Healing’

  • Demi Lovato performed two songs from Camp Rock with Joe Jonas at the Jonas Brothers’ MetLife Stadium concert on Sunday, Aug. 10
  • She opened up about why the moment was “healing” in a new interview on the Chicks in the Office podcast
“It was so healing for me, too. You know, we’ve been through so much together, all of us, the Jonas Brothers and I,” Lovato said

Hitting the stage with Jonas Brothers in 2025 was an important moment for Demi Lovato.

After the “Fast” singer, 32, made a surprise appearance at the JoBros’ MetLife Stadium concert in New Jersey on Sunday, Aug. 10 to perform Camp Rock tracks “This Is Me” and “Wouldn’t Change a Thing,” she spoke about why the experience was “healing” on the Chicks in the Office podcast.

Lovato recalled feeling “nervous” before the performance, which marked the first time she shared the stage with the Jonas Brothers and performed songs from Camp Rock in years.

“I wish I could have soaked it in a little bit more, but I was so focused on, like, ‘What am I singing, the chorus or the verse right now?’ I was so nervous that I was focused on just hitting my marks and doing the thing that I didn’t really soak up the love,” she said.

The Grammy-nominated artist, who played Mitchie Torres in Camp Rock and Camp Rock 2, added, “But seeing everyone and the reactions and everything just, like, filled my soul with warmth and love. It was incredible.”

She recalled Joe Jonas, who played pop band Connect Three member Shane Gray in the films and dated Lovato in 2010, reaching out “last week” and asking her to join the JoBros on stage.

“It was so healing for me, too. You know, we’ve been through so much together, all of us, the Jonas Brothers and I,” she said of the fellow Disney Channel alums.

“It was really really great to like spend time with them. It was really cool. They came to my room, all three of them, and spent time getting to know my husband [Jordan ‘Jutes’ Lutes], which was really meaningful,” continued Lovato. “And they just, you know, thanked me profusely for flying across the country to perform with them. And it was just so thoughtful. I felt so appreciated. And it was really healing for us. And I loved it.”

During the show, Joe, 35, told the crowd they hadn’t performed “This Is Me” together for “almost 10 years,” as Lovato insisted it “might have been longer.”

Elsewhere in the Chicks in the Office interview, Lovato revealed she recently watched both Camp Rock films — which also star Kevin Jonas and Nick Jonas as Connect Three members Jason and Nate, respectively — for the first time in a while with a friend.

“I look at Camp Rock and Camp Rock 2 and even my albums — they’re all scrapbooks for me,” she said, adding that the franchise feels like more than just “a project that I worked on.”

Lovato, who’s been open about struggling with mental health and addiction during her Disney Channel days, added, “I see a collection of memories that really fulfilled me and gave me so much life at a dark point in my life. I was kind of struggling when I was working on those projects, but those projects brought me so much joy.”
