Dennis Quaid is “really proud” of eldest son Jack Quaid’s acting career.
“I saw [his film Novocaine] two nights ago,” Dennis, 70, told Us Weekly exclusively at the Happy Face screening in New York City earlier this month. “He’s so good. He really proved — and I really felt [this] beforehand — that he can carry a picture.”
The screen legend told Us that Jack has “got a special thing going on,” and having two famous parents helps.
Dennis shares Jack, 32, with ex-wife Meg Ryan, whom he was married to from 1991 to 2001. (Jack is the couple’s only child, but Dennis is also a father to twins Thomas and Zoe, 17, with Kimberly Buffington. Ryan adopted daughter Daisy in 2004.)

Jack Quaid looked like the spitting image of dad Dennis Quaid as the father-son duo made a rare public appearance together. Dennis, 69, was photographed with Jack, 31, at a Golden Globes afterparty on Sunday, January 7, which was hosted by talent agency UTA. Dennis kept it casual in a black shirt and matching jacket. […]
“His persona is very unique,” Dennis continued, gushing over his oldest boy. “He’s out there playing with the big boys.”
Aside from his starring role in Novocaine — which hit theaters earlier this month — Jack has been playing the role of Hughie Campbell on Prime Video’s The Boys since 2019. (The fifth and final season is set for this summer.)
With various major roles under his belt, it’s obvious that Jack’s star will continue to rise, and he has no issue when it comes to speaking about his famous family or nontraditional upbringing.
“Most parents if you say, ‘I’m going to try to be an actor,’ they say, ‘What are you talking about, that’s not a viable career.’ But they’re two people that have done it and succeeded at it, so they encouraged me,” Jack told Us Weekly exclusively in 2018. “When I said, ‘I want to do what you guys do,’ they were like, ‘OK. Go for it.’”

Jack Quaid has continued to acknowledge how fortunate he is to be the son of parents Dennis Quaid and Meg Ryan. The Boys star noted in July 2024 that he is an “immensely privileged person” and “was able to get representation early on” to jumpstart his acting career. “I knew the door was open for […]
At the time, The Boys star told Us that he’ll always ask them for advice, if needed.
“If I’m ever like, ‘What does this mean?’ They’ll calm me down,” Jack continued. “It was nice because I really had people who had succeeded at what they do to look up to as I was growing up.”
Both Jack and Dennis are enjoying the fruits of their labor, it seems.
“I mean, I love being an actor. It’s great work if you can get it,” Dennis also told Us while promoting Happy Face, new episodes of which drop every Wednesday on Paramount+. “I’m having more fun 1743088444 than I had in my 20s.”
