Dolores Catania Gets Real About Looking Her Best While Aging — and Wanting to Help Others Do the Same (Exclusive)

NEED TO KNOW

  • Dolores Catania opens up how her beauty routine has evolved with age
  • The Bravo star partnered with Laura Geller Beauty to launch its Line Smoother primer, which is targeted for mature skin
  • Her work with the beauty brand also includes the debut her mini social series “Beauty Emergency Unit” in which she stars as a beauty EMT

Ask reality TV star Dolores Catania what her tag line on life is and she’ll tell you: “You’ll always wind up where you belong; don’t ever give up and trust the process.”

In this season of her life (that is, newly 55, newly engaged, and feeling better than ever), Catania embodies that tag line more than ever. And when she applies it to her skin, it means indulging in a routine that gives her a glow that matches her inner confidence.

New to her regimen: Laura Geller Beauty’s latest launch — the Line Smoother primer — a superhero product that makes her feel superhuman.

The Line Smoother promises to instantly smooth and blur the skin before makeup application. How? Through a silicone elastomer that reduces the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, large pores and uneven texture, plus vitamin C and niacinamide that address dullness. The formula sets in one minute.

“Fine lines and wrinkles…they creep up on you,” says Catania, who has maintained her candor about her plastic surgery journey over the years (“I don’t want to give anybody a false sense of what they can look like without these things,” she says.)

Now, “being that I get my makeup done so much, I realized that as I started to age, the same makeup that I used when I was younger wasn’t working as well.”

But, there was also a particular time when she knew something needed to change in her routine.

One day, she caught of herself after glam and shockingly noticed the “creases of every little fine line and my pores looked like an orange peel. I literally almost wanted to die.”

Thankfully, she has the primer to save her from such moments.

That’s actually the whole premise of Catania’s new Laura Geller Beauty campaign. In her three-episode content series, “Beauty Emergency Unit,” she’s slipping back into her EMT uniform (yes, back, since she was a Emergency Medical Technician before hitting Bravo stardom) and rescuing women in various stages of life from their skincare dilemmas — with the Line Smoother in hand.

After all, Laura Geller Beauty has been the face of mature skin-friendly makeup and skincare, specifically formulated for women over 40, since its launch in 1997.

“As women, we go through so many different things in a day. We always seem to be taking care of everyone else and striving to be the best…and sometimes that does show on our face,” she says. Plus, “it is all about reinventing yourself” (fun fact: Catania was also a corrections officer and surgical assistant before hitting the TV jackpot!).

“I always say, sometimes you feel stuck in your life. You feel like, ‘oh my God, what’s next?’ or, ‘I don’t feel like I’m where I should be at this moment.’ I’ve reinvented myself so many times,” she continues.

Her advice: “Whenever you feel like you’re so focused on what you don’t have or what’s not right in your life, go to somebody or go to something and give up yourself — and you’ll find your way that way.”
